Boundary Keepers
There are strangers among us,
giants united by vision.
Soft rustling guardians
on the perimeter of need,
they live beyond my comprehension.
They are the ones who remember
the heart of the song; the tear of a child.
Their refusal to succumb
seems mystical to me,
holding history clenched in my teeth.
I am mastered by their integrity,
these sentinels of possibility.
They deliver wisdom; child of memory and pain
and bind the darkness with a word.
Worlds survive through the grace of such strangers
