Sky Artist

Joey paints the sky.Day after day he layers blues on blues and night after night,
black on black.

I watch from the window of the apartment as he sticks his paintbrush in his mouth
before he uses a new color from his palette. His lips turn orange during sunsets.

Joey's been doing this for as long as I can remember. Sometimes he knocks on
the window before climbing on the roof to paint a wisp of clouds.

He always smiles. And he always does his job wonderfully. I wish I could frame
the way the pinks&purples&blues look at seven A.M., but you can't fit the sky in
a frame. Sometimes I hate to see the sunsets geting painted over, but I always
anticipate the way the stars will look at night.

I think Joey's favorite constellation is Orion. He's always the most beautiful set of
spots in the sky, the triumphant warrior holding his club like Joey with his
paintbrush.

Sometimes I wonder what Joey thinks. I wonder if he has a family. I wonder what
he does when he isn't standing in a tree, blending reds and yellows to make
the sun a perfect hue of orange. I wonder how he introduces himself to
strangers. I wonder if he says, "I'm Joey, and I paint the sky."

I hope he does.

Looks like a great start to a new mythology. Which, IMNSHO, is a much needed, very good thing.

Wow, I was so focused on the sci fi area, I forgot to come back here and take a look at your work until now.

I like this alot! what a way to look at things!

-puts on dark sunglasses, black turtleneck, holds up a flickering lighter and snaps fingers repeatedly with his other hand. Cool, real cool.
