K, here goes. the first person to guess correctly puts the next one up.
Riddle me this: I HAVE EYES BUT CANNOT SEE, WHAT AM I?

Granted, most any philosophy or religous text could arguably fit the bill, but I'll say the "Oxford English Dictionary" (The author wrote from beyond the walls of an insane asylum)
