Step 5 was add blue ink to clear Aleens glue and slop over fig. The usual ink and clear gloss was not sticking to the wax. Aleen's clear glue is slime in its own right and helpful for making these things.

If you like them so much, try making a few! I used up a measly 51¢ worth of material on this. And only took me a total of 2 hours from start to final photo.

Half of a taper candle 25¢
Lighter fuel 1¢
The poker chip 5¢
Piece of floral wire 10¢
Glue and ink 10¢

The fig would also make a passable stand-in for a water elemental

Well - normally I wouldn't have a use for them, since most of the gaming I do is historical in nature - but I'm looking into doing some pulp gaming, so I can probably work a blob in - you know, do a whole bunch of 50's pulp B-movies or something.

The new overcoat dried with small spots and imperfections. Next time i will start with spray on gloss.

Wow, a lot of thread necromancy went on while I was away for the weekend & booked off for Monday; what gives?

Not that this isn't a perfectly lovely blue slime, of course...

I had the oozes linked in Frank's sig firmly in mind "recently" when I tried to make a 4"-based black pudding recently for a Dungeon Magazine adventure I was (& am still, months later, to be honest) running, but I didn't use the wire armatures so it was a total FAIL. After all, to paraphrase the old saying, ooze cannot form pseudopods on candle wax alone... Plus whatever I was using for a base got badly warped as the wax dried unevenly. Total fiasco; these are somewhat trickier to make than it looks!
