I was wondering if we'll be have acess to the boneyard again this year?

I'm hoping on Friday 'cause there's a couple of figs that I want to mess with while the sculpting guru's are around ::D:

That way I'll have the WHOLE weekend to grab advice, since my sculpting is sub-standard.
Thanks
Betsy

Anne, while you are asking, could you please also verify if we'll be able to exchange our extra Reaper metal for new metal, ounce for ounce, like we did at ReaperCon? That was SUCH a nice offer!! ^_^

Oh I sure hope we can! At Reaper Con I grabbed a couple of Nienna's but neglected to grab her arm sprues  so I was hoping to pick those up during the RAC.

Heya! I have verified that Bryan has volunteered his time to run people through the Boneyard and at this time we have no reason why not. We have yet to have our big ReaperCon final organizational meeting, so I'll bring it up there to make sure the logistics are all worked out. ::): Gus, I'll have to ask your question tomorrow and get back to you, as I didn't read your post 'till after my lil' meeting with the Powers That Be. :;):

I'm coming to RAC and Reaper HQ for the first time ever this year... any chance a newbie could ask:

What's the boneyard?

also, there's another term used in the class descriptions that I'd love an explanation of (preferrably in monosyllables): What is a non-metallic metal?

The boneyard is where you can purchase individual pieces of multi-part minis. For example: let's say you REALLY like the baby werewolf in the Halloween familiar pack, but the others just aren't doing it for you, you can buy JUST that mini and pay for it by the ounce-thus saving on packing and many other minis that will just sit in a drawer and take up space....

Non-metallic metal (NMM) is when you use colored paints (such as greys for silvers or browns or yellows for golds) instead of the metallic paints (such as antique gold, new gold, etc.) and, by cleverly placing areas of high light next to really dark areas and expertly blending the rest, you can make it look like a reflective surface without reflective paints. I can't do it yet, but it looks really good!

Hope that helps!

Thanks very much Anne! ::D: And a special thanks to Bryan too! There was some discussion last weekend among some painter friends of mine and we came to the conclusion that we'd rather go to Reaper Con and/or the Reaper Artist Conference instead of some of the bigger Con's like Gen Con and this is an example of why ::D:

The Boneyard is also a great place if you like doing miniature conversion or Frankensteining to pick up some spare bits and pieces. Things that always come in handy, like wings, tentacles, extra weaponed limbs, heads, shields, etc.

For example: I picked up a small hoarde of skulls at Reapercon to make a Throne of Skulls for my Totem of Battle for my Reven army. Key feature will be the skull of Kaladrax as the back of the throne.

Just be careful. It's really easy to spend a LOT in there without realizing it. You just start putting stuff into your little yellow bin and next thing you know Jay is telling you, "That'll be $83.00." ::D:

Isn't that the truth! I blew a small fortune last year! The best thing to do is go thru CW (Casketworks) or the boneyard part of the Reaper online store and make a list of part/figure #'s of what you want before you get in the "boneyard" candy shop otherwise you'll get a little nuts

I hope we can exchange pewter for pewter that'd be awesome I have a bunch of thigs I'd love to exchange
BTW, you can also get discontinued figures or their parts as well.

I have confirmed that you will be able to exchange Reaper Metal for Reaper Metal on an once-for-ounce basis.

That is, you have collected 1.3 ounces of sprues, tabs, shaved-off-broccoli, spare heads, etc. As long as it is all Reaper's metal, you can trade it for 1.3 ounces of metal that you need. Like 1/10th of a Hill Giant . . or something.

It must be Reaper Metal because we will be remelting it to find new life as more new miniatures, and our Metal mixture is a Proprietary Blend.
