the 40k miniatures suffer from multi iteration non-compatability
40k is mainstream. sorry, i do not do the clients every other ho' does, i will not let GW bend me for their fanfare....
it's bad enough they made LotR SBG

I've got some inquisitorial forces, grey knights and storm troopers. I'm slowly building a guard army and I'm working on a teddy bear space marine army :)
I have a bunch of tau a friend gave me too - but I haven't really touched them. I'd like to paint them up some day.
I don't really play much 40k, though... I just really like the models and pick 'em up when I can get a good deal.

You also can't deny the goodness of 40k fluff.

Unfortunatly, the types of battles I want to have can't be represented using the 40K rules anymore. Now I will say that it is a fun game, but a touch limited.
One of the major problems I see is that in the quest to make things fair and balanced, GW has made the battle won before the first shots are fired. Basically, the tactics are more around 'who builds the better army list' than 'work with what you have'.
My other major complaint about the 40K game is the people who play it. I'm here to have fun, not obsess about every little detail. Unfortunatly, that's the opposite I've seen.
I have the full Stargrunt rules sitting on my shelf, but the only people I know who play such games are completly focused on their loyality to GW, they're not interested in anything else.
But as I have oft said: Your Mileage May Vary. If you do enjoy playing, then by all means do.
Best,

you get a shiny coolness point
but yeah, i gotta say there is a reason i picked up the stuff in the first place. i did play inquisitor with the tiny 25 mm models. i do like their skimirsh system in necromunda, and probably would prefer to play their games more like that.
they do have a cool universe, but bad customer-company interaction policies
i refuse to play the actuall game, but some of the mini's call me. if only i got to use them somehow....i still have my harlequins and rangers and warp spiders(before the WS were castrated) in the old crystal paint scheme.
maybe a necromunda style game that encompased the whole damn universe...
oh well, whatever...
