Mithril (sic) was described in Lord of the Rings as being like silver, only more so and better. I'd use as white a silver as you can.

Adamantine I have no idea, but probably something more gunmetally.

I would use one of the alcohol-based metallic silvers; they come out remarkably shiny, and very distinct when inked.

Or whatever strikes your fancy - it's not like somebody can say "hey, that's not what mithril really looks like!" :poke:

Per LotR, mithreal is very shiney. Stainless Steel or SENMM.

I used to use jet exhaust for adamantium - (model master) it is different enough from other metals that it stands out - kinda brown silver.

or titanium - but I don't know if there would be enough contrast.

id personally use the lightest silvery (platinum like maybe) for mithril, then like the dakest silvery color for adamantine

mithril is elvish.. so it should shine and stuff, but adamantine has always been dwarvish, so it should probably be a dark hue... my thinking

It all depends on which author you chose for your canon. I know Tolkien has Mithril as mined by the dwarves, though loved by the Elves. I have no idea what D&D calls it.

Silver and gunmetal, I'd suggest.

hehe, lemme check what the D&D book says..lol

according to the 3.0 dmg...

Mirthril is "a very rare silvery, sparkly metal.."

adamantine is "only found in meteorites and magic veins"..

no mention of color

however as with all metals, the final color of the metal, depends on the techniques that went into refinement, and what additives... you could have admantine as bright and shiney as mithril, just depends on what you add.,

i found this as a reference.... probably from neverwinter nights or something

personally, like i and a few others have said,, for raw 100% adamantium color, id use a dark silver (gunmetal?)

Mithril, I would definitely use the brightest silver and or silver NMM you can possibly do. I imagine it looks almost like brand new stainless steel. Pretty much every description has it as ultra light and brilliant to behold.

I've always pictured adamantine as a really dark, shiny metal...kind of like grandma's cast iron skillet, that is so well seasoned it's slicker than teflon. It's a really dark, dark grey color with just a hint of blue in there.

Also, if you look at one of the more famous adamatine wielders - Wolvie - his retractable claws are usually fairly shiny and bright as far as metal goes. I guess it is entirely up to the individual artiste.

I always thought of Adamantine as bluish - but in the Xmen movie it was actually very dark metal - like gunmetal or oxidized pewter . . .

Mithril is widely acknowledged to be a brilliant pale silver.

to me, id agree..

except of course to the people using wolverines claws as an example... the movie claws are based on the cartoon/comic version.. which colorwise, was basically just them splashing some grey on the page

X2 got the color right in my mind when they showed the molten stuff though

As a keeper of useless random computer game trivia, I feel it is my ninja duty to jump in and point out that it looks like a Morrowind screenshot.

If I recall correctly, the conjured weapons and armor looked really really cool as well. Dark, evil, eldritchy. If only I could find a pic of them.

Um, yes, back to the thread... both suggestions for adamantine sound good to me, why not use the lighter bluish one if you're painting one of those goody goody types, and dark gunmetal for evil overlords planning to take over the world! *muhahaha*
