Show Off Forum Guidelines and Suggestions

At the moment, when someone posts a Show Off thread people comment as per always, but more than that (usually) register their approval by "liking" the initial post.
The original poster in return has generally been "liking" all the comments, which is nice, but a little uncomfortable and means that one has to single out posts especially in responses.
I hadn't realized this was new until I started looking at old threads. A year ago people were simply posting and talking and it doesn't look like things were habitually "liked" like they are today.
It occurs to me I don't know how long the "like" feature has been around, which might account for it.
Does anyone know when this protocol developed?
Some humans would do anything to see if it was possible to do it. If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

it is rather recent considering age of forum.

As I recall, "like" was broken for a bit so it's possible that when it was fixed people upped their like responses and thus a protocol was formed from repetitive use.
Personally, I "like" letting commenters know that their comments were noticed via the like button. Especially if the comment doesn't require a direct response.
The option to like the OP of a Show Off allows a fast response to the barrage of Show Offs that can come in. Replying to each with Great Job, etc. gets a bit tedious. The like button offers a quick show of support and makes full comments a more valuable response.
To be honest, this is a tough section to read through on a daily basis and keep up with what's being done.

I'm sorry if I'm being dense or missed the answer to this somewhere, but is there some way to post pictures from my photobucket account?
Or should I just link to them?
