The new Kaladrax Bones are being showcased, so I have started work on the older metal version.

Because of the way that the model is made it will be very easy to pose it rather than going with the standard 'Rarr' pose.

Which leads to this:

I am waiting on an order of Fantascenes cemetery terrain, and one piece is going to be the center of the base for Kaladrax - but which one?

Contestant number 1:

Kaladrax would be coming up from behind the mausoleum, climbing over the roof.

Contestant number 2:

This is the one that I am favoring - Kaladrax will be coming up the side, his tail wrapped around the building.

Contestant number 3:

A more distant third place. Pretty much the same pose as number 2. A nice enough piece, and I will be happy to use it as terrain, but... not as inspiring for the base.

All the poses will be more cat like than anything else. Well, maybe a ferret....

And all poses will depend on the actual models when they arrive.

Part of me is tempted to put a cheap MP3 player and speakers on the inside of whichever piece I use....

Just some random thoughts:

Contestant number 1 seems to harken the strongest (IMHO) to the Reaper Kickstarter map. So I like it for that.

Contestant number 2 is my favorite. No high reason - I just think it's beautiful. (And if it's green as pictured, the contrast between that dark jade and bone white would be nice.)

Contestant number 3 is lovely as a set piece in general, but I have trouble imagining an undead dragon wrapped around it. Probably the steeple's fault.

Probably not helpful, but maybe it'll amuse, at least!

#2.
Looks stronger "in world". Others look like pieces should falling off or out of place if Big K is stepping on it.
Smallest footprint. Looks like mounting it on a 4" square or 6" round gaming base might still be possible.

#1 looks too plain and both #1 & #3 look to big. Heck, looking at #1, it is like I can still see the foamcore they cast it from!.

I'd say #2 due to the fact that the side of Kaladrax's base features the head of a statue, and #2 appears to be the only one with symmetry in that regard.

Last I remembered Kaladrax's base is a stone slab.

I'd go with option #2. You could have his female handler coming out of the door of the building he's wrapped around.

I'll throw in for number 2 as well. The skulls on the corners echo nicely with a bony dragon. Besides, it is a really interesting building with lots of cool detail to play with.

Right, my understanding is that Auld Grump is going to be buying a building (per pics above) to feature with his metal Kaladrax as symmetry to the new Bones one with the ruined building.

Looks like number 2 is the clear winner.

I will be using Masonite for the base proper, securing the feet in 'poxy putty and pinning it to the Masonite.

Still tempted to put an MP3 player inside - with Rumanian folks music. (If an undead dragon listening to something very much akin to polkas isn't scary, I don't know what is....)

Not so much symmetry as getting off my duff and painting a figure that I have had for over a year. The scenic base for the Bones Kaladrax was inspirational. :) It made me realize that I don't kave to use the metal Kaladrax as is.

My biggest problem with the metal Kaladrax is that his pose is kind of dull - but he is a very nice figure for bending, twisting, cutting, and pinning. ::): I am leaning towards cutting apart his knees and ankles, and completely repositioning his rear legs.

As an aside - his skull makes a great bit of decoration for bases, buildings, and etc..
