Today I logged in from my cell phone and tablet to find a gorgeous, light version of the forums much to my delight!

Is this the reason for the downtime? If so, I like it!

Is that new? My @&$) sensitive tablet swapped over to it earlier due to an errant finger swipe and it took me a while to figure out how to get things back.

Hmm new is relative, that's the mobile interface I've been seeing for sometime, perhaps as long as I've been posting.

Since I've been logging on with my phone, I've always had this lite version and that goes back a lot of months.

That's been the mobile version for quite some time. From the full version, you had the option down at the bottom of your screen to change your theme (it's on the bottom left near the RSS feed icon). Your options are IP.Board and IP.Board.Mobile. Fairly certain you can figure out which is which. Down at the bottom it also used to have a link to just go straight to the mobile version as well. This was helpful because when you swapped your theme, it was "permanent" and also affected your login from a laptop/desktop as well until you changed it back; putting you in the mobile version.

It appears at least for the Android ICS browser, going back to the full version doesn't work, but it does for iPhone users. In the mobile version, you lose the most functionality in the text editing. If you know all the board commands, you're set.

Mine had switched over to the mobile version after the forum was down the other day for an upgrade. Switched back to the full version easily. Had to because when the menu came up for notifications, new posts etc, half the time selecting something would ignore the menu that was up and select from the forums front page that was behind it instead.

My phone has been the full version up until the last update, probably because that's when they started watching for my browser.

Not sure which one I like better on it so I'm sticking with the mobile version for another few weeks as i only use my phone to check here maybe once, twice a week if that.

As a user I go for the full version every time, even on mobile devices. As an administrator, I make the option available for my users.

Apparently IBS has become more aggressive in its browser sniffing.

At least they didn't kill the theme this time.

The only thing I don't like about the mobile version is I can't access any of my Mod tools. But it's easy enough to switch over if I need to, now that it allows it.
