So I picked up a few new jars of paint Tuesday and took a crack at my gnoll and here's what i have so far, Im having a little trouble with lighting today so it's kind of hard to see the tarnished effect on the right arm.

I'm not entirely happy with the leather straps but with a limited paint selection you have to make due.

Does anybody else find it odd, by the way, that the information age has led to language becoming an oblique and imprecise tool where even the most straightforward phrasing is pored over with chicken entrails and bone tossing to divine the true meaning?

Ok I'm guessing it is digital. Back the camera/ figure up in inch increments also if it doesn't have a timer brace your arms against something. On to the pertinent subject. Solid and neat job in blocking in the colors. Looking forward to more.

One of my favorite Bones models currently available. I had a blast painting this one myself, and it seems like you are too. And I love your color choices! They are basically the same ones that I did ::D: I can't wait to see progress on this guy.

took some extra pictures after I finished the shield and also gave it a green wash but it's going to take some more work to make it show around the studs on the shield.

Off the top of my head I want to wash the chain a couple more times to darken it up and also black wash his teeth a bit, the skirt and back still need work but it looks like it will have to wait till tomorrow as i think my Lrn2p kit came in today.

Excellent! Much better pictures. I stand by my last comment of good job blocking in the colors. I will add get some MSP Brown Liner and line the figure. An example of this can be seen on my ogre chieftan.

Very interesting, i will have to give that a shot. Something I Hate is every time I take pictures of a mini I notice tiny spots of paint that got into the wrong spot or unpainted areas >,> on a side note usps let me down again so no new mini's for me so Im going to spend the rest of the afternoon messing with this guy.

so one of my cats dumped a coffee cup full of water i was using to clean my brushes into the container my gnoll was sitting in while i was in the shower today as I was shaking the paint and water off the mini I figured this would be a good time to redo it and try some of the dry brushing and wash from the rat in the lrn2pk so the fur wouldn't look so monotone.

So got the mini primed and took another wack at it with some different ideas.
drybrushing the fur didn't come out as detailed as I wanted but imo it's an improvement over the original soild brown I originally used.
Also I used a coat of walnut on the leather straps and then washed them a number of times with a very light flesh tone.

Tried something new with the kilt/skirt thing, started with a walnut brown coat then 50/50 of the brown and carnage red then a coat of original citadel khorne red, it's much darker this time.

Anyway still have a lot of touch ups and washing to do and of course the shield.

When you were doing the skirt, you should've built it out as layers. Leave a little of the walnut in the deepest crevices, then leave a little of the 50/50 showing, etc.

Looks great, though.

The alligator clip on his foot makes it look like he's caught in a trap and none too happy about it!

Buglips, that is just epic, and so very wrong.

yea your right about that, after rereading the post I realized I made a mistake but that's what I get for painting at 1am.

So short of something mysterious happening to my gnoll over night I'm going to call him finished and seal it tomorrow when it's not raining.
