Buglips, that is just epic, and so very wrong.

I assumed it was open, but I didn't ask. Might actually have been rather rude of me to assume so, come to that.
I can't seem to get tags to work, but this had "open" and "group" all over it.

THANKS to everyone on this thread. I'm especially curious how everyone completes their miniatures. Descriptions of how you finished your miniature ARE appreciated!
Finally, an OT question. Which LTPK teaches blending?
Thanks again!

Cool, thanks for clarification.

@Last: Maybe you can do a Full Edit to change the title?

The edit is in, that should make things clearer.
I have no idea how I'm going to finish mine... maybe leather and red for the skirt thing, and a bronze for the armor. Hmmmm...

After this the instructions say to brown-line the miniature, I'm not sure I'm going to do that yet, unlike Buglips I don't usually line miniatures, however this mini does have some unusual texture connections that may benefit from some brown-lining so we'll see.
Also I've reposted the three stages into a single post so people can see the transition from white to final base coat after 2 layers of tanned shadow more easily.

Seconded, it's vastly helpful for new folks like me to hear how folks do things.
I've been through a mini from each of the kits now, and none really center on blending as such, but it's probably the most pronounced with #3, when they deal with NMM.

* At least so far as I know or recall, but let's remember I had no idea LTPK2 covers lining now.

Hopefully as I work on our pile of metal muscle above layering will become more clear.

I'm making this up as I go, since the original colours for this kit have long since vanished. I still have the tanned skin triad (or at least a tanned skin triad) so that's going on per kit instructions. But the rest I'm cobbling together.
So I painted some reds in with a 50/50 mix of RPP Blood Red and Aged Red Brick, then painted some leathers with what I suspect (it's unlabelled) is RPP Warm Walnut from LTPK3 back a million years ago. Or 7 years ago. Same difference.
The instructions seem to suggest doing the skin and then the lining, and then all the details but I'm going at this in my usual fashion. So I'll lay down all basecoats first, then do my lining. Also, my lining will (surprise) be black, and not the brown liner included in the kit - though I do actually still have it, and it is actually still good. I just like black better. After the lining is tidied up, I'll start highlighting some skin.

I don't have LTPK4... I was thinking about ordering it, but I changed my mind. I have half of its paints and the barbarian at home.
Maybe I'll use similar colors mimicking what others are doing. ;) I'll start painting him this weekend when my cute pre-schooler
and a little baby girl who keep me happily busy go to bed. It should be fun!

Anyway I've decided not to line him, but have now applied all the base colours to him except his rope (which I'll base Maiden Flesh) and his scabard (which I've decided will end up white).
Colours:
Metal - Ashen Blue (I'm thinking of another go at NMM)
Leather - Oiled Leather (this will be edged and detailed with Ruddy Leather later to make it more distinct from his flesh - essentially "brown lining" it)
Fur & Hair (even armpit hair) - Pure Black
Cloth (it could easily be leather as well) - Brilliant Blue
Wood - Mahogany Brown
Eyepatch - Pure Black.
I have a mental image now of this guy as a cross between Snake Plissken & a hyper Roid Monster version of Conan the Barbarian, even if his eyepatch is on the wrong side for Snake.
