So I just got in my online order of shiny new Bones! THANK YOU!!

Here I am opening all of these blisters and I'm thinking.... why couldn't there be an option when placing ONLINE ORDERS ONLY where I could opt out of the packaging?

You have already stated that you won't be putting the KS Vampire shipments in blisters. Would it be a huge leap to produce "bins" of Bones that could be placed in simple baggies for normal orders? It could save you money on packaging and shipping (assuming you pay by weight). I also realize this might not be particularly prudent with the metal models for a variety of reasons I don't have time to point out myself.

Thoughts?

I've had this thought many times myself, but I think too many people would rather have the individual packaging and added layer of protection for the transit.

I just make sure that all the packaging goes into recycling.

It's all logistics. If you've been reading between the KS lines, it's the complexity and scale of the project responsible for the various delays and changes. An option for blister-free packaging would *double* the inventory tracking and storage for Reaper. OTOH, I'm guessing that the individual "bitz" not available at the retailer level are packaged in baggies or whatnot? I guess if you REALLY wanted to go green, you could buy all the bitz of a model, rather than the model itself!

Also, Bones are 10% recycled plastic, and miniature companies regularly re-melt down metal miniatures that don't sell and metal scraps.

EDIT: Here's a pic of (one of?) their blister racks. Holy cr*p! :D

They actually pre-package everything and everything is in numerical order.

Does anybody else find it odd, by the way, that the information age has led to language becoming an oblique and imprecise tool where even the most straightforward phrasing is pored over with chicken entrails and bone tossing to divine the true meaning?

If it is super important to you, you could request in the Notes section "please do not blister-pack these items in my order" and then specify. We will try our best to accommodate you, however, in the case of our metal figures, cannot be responsible at that point for breakage or bending because of insufficient protection.

Nah. I was only spitballing an idea I thought could have saved Reaper some cash. I work in a corporate setting and lately we’ve been doing a lot of that. I wasn’t trying to troll or anything. Like Adrift I do make sure I properly recycle packaging I was only spitballing ideas for cost cutting.

As soon as I started writing this thread I thought about how metal minis would fare in baggies and I totally agree with that.

This and all of the individual pieces and sprues to your various minis are all in one place (in the blisters, on the pegs) waiting to be sent to you. Tracking the pieces down and getting them ready for an order would actually increase the time, errors, and ultimately, cost, of our fulfillment.

But thanks for the idea! Seriously. One of the best things about our fans is their level of investment with the processes and people of Reaper. I love it!
