Has anyone painted this mini? I really love her but I'm having some issues with a chunk of what I think is flash between her sword and cloak. The backside of hawked has a solid chunk of metal that goes all the way back. I dont really think there's a way I can clear it out. I've ordered a second one and it's the same way so I'm assuming that's just how the mini is. Any suggestion or thoughts? I'm not really sure how I paint it with this. Thanks!

I've never done this mini but there's a RAFM cyclops who has the most evil case of this I've ever seen. Patient (and curse-laden) drilling, cutting, and filing removed it from his club arm - but the rock one I left as is and just painted black to blot out the offending area between his arm and his body. Getting that out just wasn't worth the trouble.

Buglips, that is just epic, and so very wrong.

Do you mean this area?
I vaguely remember cutting that chunk of pewter out. I probably used flush-cutters to hack away the main mass, and then a knife with an X-Acto #10 blade (a much sturdier tip than the #11) to scoop out some more, and then just painted it black to make it visually less prominent.
I painted that figure more than three years ago, so it may be that this part of the mold has deteriorated since then -- the rubber may have torn out little by little, leaving more volume for the metal to fill.

There is a little bit of filler right behind the tip of the sword, next to her foot, which connects with the bottom edge of the cloak. I suspect this is there to prevent an undercut which would be difficult to cast.
If you think you have a defect, get a photo of the area and contact customer service. If the mold has torn and is producing bad casts, Reaper wants to know. They take quality pretty seriously.
