I'm not the swiftest cat, even on a good day, so it takes me a lil' while to learn a game, even one with elegantly simple mechanics like Warlord. I'm no tactictal genius, but I do like to wargame.
I heartily applaud the Reaper game team for this game. Any game that you are loving enough to tough out losses until you get a victory is a real treat.
My Reven have still never beaten the Dwarves. It took Boris Mingla and his Mercs to pull off the task. I was pleased as punch, even with many unpainted models on the table.
I'll have to post my custom Boris Mingla in the show off section when he's done.
He's even street legal, made up of two different Reaper models!!!

Ado Salint was also with Boris, and lived through three tough checks and made it to the end!!!
I need a few more games with this force, and maybe Reptus, before going back to the Reven. I need to find a better way to run them.

Reven is a capable faction, we should be able to give you some idea of what to take and how to use it against Dwarves.
Start with the Bull Orcs and build around them using the Tomukh doctrine.
Excellent value for points models are Narg, Gaaguk, Korgug, and these models can anchor your force.
Also, Reven have the most variety in troops available to any faction, so if something isn't working you have a huge number of options.

Can you give us an idea of what your opponent is typically playing when using the Dwarves?

Well, the Dwarven King diminishes those Tough checks considerably, and he usually gets those miners with a burrowing spellcaster to give me grief. I'll post more details when I'm out of the office and back home.
I'm fairly confident I can go back to my Reven, as I do love them, and get more out them in game. I'll post my lists and get some feedback in the Reven section.
I appreciate any and all advice.
Cheers.

I've been having similar success recently. Not only have I scored a couple of wins, our group has grown to 4.

Poison arrows.
After watching what they did to my wife's troops, the only thing I can say is poison arrows. Any model hit was pretty much guaranteed to take another point, just murdered her archers. 40 points is worth it.
