Starting a WIP to motivate myself to paint the figure in a week. ::):
My plan is to paint her for 1-2 hours daily when my little kids are asleep.

I made brick road using Milliput. It wasn't as sticky as green stuff, I liked it.
I pinned the primed figure on the base. (Thanks for the pinning tip, Sir Schubert.)

I basecoated her skin with Flat Flesh (Model color) and then gave it a couple of Oiled Leather wash. I used Russet Brown for her hair. Blue liner in her eye sockets. She will probably have blonde hair, pink blouse, dark brown vest, teal pants, brown boots, red or violet ribbons, silver flute, and silver dagger. I took the photo this morning (10 a.m.), I think it looks better than night time photos.

Nice work on the brick road. Best I can do for a base, when I have to mount one of Werner Klocke's narrow-based ones on a penny for stability, is to do a poor job of replicating broccoli base.

It's more like "random holes poked with a pin" actually.

Quite horrid.

Current Bones Count:  Total:  109  Painted:  80

Buglips, that is just epic, and so very wrong.

They use the back of a brush handle to make the broccoli base. ::):

Does anybody else find it odd, by the way, that the information age has led to language becoming an oblique and imprecise tool where even the most straightforward phrasing is pored over with chicken entrails and bone tossing to divine the true meaning?

* buglips*the*goblin: I liked that she was on a tiny rock base, which was easy to cut off by Xuron pliers. I found
it fun to drill tiny holes and then insert superglue dipped little clip bits. Those two spikes made her look as if she
were wearing spike high heels.
* psyberwolfe1: It is good to know how the infamous broccoli base is made. ; )

I spent 90 minutes to paint her last night (12-1:30 lol). I spent half of the time retouching her eyes..

Time well spent IMO, there's a lot of life in those eyes. Looks great so far!

The eyes looks very nice indeed. Eyes are always the last part I paint on a mini but it’s interesting to see a different approach.

* Metalchaos, Bloodsbane, and Loim: Thank you for your encouraging comments. : )

I realized pink is not so easy to shade and highlight. (I used Entrail Pink + Pure White)
I painted her pants in Peacock Green and disliked it, so I covered them in Blackened Brown
which gave her pants that muddy look.
I tapped Burnt Orange on her hair. Her flute seemed to be made out of wood. I will change
its color. I knocked her over once and her paint got chipped. I struggled last night. I hope
I am more careful tonight and have more fun. : )

I like the work so far. The hair is looking great.

The pants, maybe work up through some tans and a copper on bronze metalic highlights?

* chaosscorpion: Thank you for color suggestion. : )

Looking at the photo, I guess it's time to change the light bulb. Light seems okay in my bare eyes,
but my phone camera catches that strange wave of light.. Sorry if the photo hurts your eyes.

I gave green another chance on her scabbard, still not so fond of it.
I'll go to the library to check out books about color theory. Study time. ^_^

Try a mist green color. Less blue more yellow. I would use an unsaturated pale green.

Psyberwolfe1: Mist green sounds pretty. I'll check out the color. Thank you for color suggestion. : ) I had tried
'pale green to green blending' on her scabbard though it didn't look quite the way I had wished. I'll try out both
pale green and maroon to see what I like better.

I went to the library with my children and rent 'Color' by Betty Edwards and 'National Gallery of Art Washington'
by John Walker. Evil spirit by my ear was whispering 99 reasons why I shouldn't paint last night, but I made Will
save (barely) and did a little highlight on her hair for 30 min.

I had been trying out good brushes master painters would use, and I found I like Raphael size 1 a lot. I also like
Reaper size 2 brush. I hope Reaper restocks them soon.

Just a little more painting..
I had fun giving her manicure. (Violet liner -> Purple -> Purple + white)
I'll change the color of her scabbard back to green. lol

Hopefully I can finish painting her in 2 days.
(4 hours might not be enough, though..)

* Rather than reading a book about theory of colors, looking at the photos of
paintings by great artists seem more helpful for me to learn about color, light,
and shade. Below photo is from the book, National Gallery of Art Washington,
written by John Walker. I'm glad I rent the book. : )

Four more hours of painting and simple basing.
She looks fine on a game table, but photos are unforgiving.
I'll do a little clean up(?) in the future. End of my WiP. : )
