First new thing I have posted in a long time. These are cheap mooks for PCs to kill. Each one was speed painted assembly lines style, with a total of about 2 hours per figure total.

I didn't really experiment here. The next set I post will show off my experiments with skin tone layering.

I was wondering about those army pack orc archers. The pictures in my Casket Works don't do them justice. Now I think I'll have to get me some, because they look mighty good.

Buglips, that is just epic, and so very wrong.

Really nice job, well done! I like the clean style and attention to a natural, rather than a cartoonish, orky skin tone.

I think the figures are so nicely done the bases would benefit from a little more time though.

This story shall the good man teach his son;
That the 25th of August shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that pledges his cash with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition;
And foolish men playing with thier Space Marines
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their painting cheap while any speaks
That pledged with us upon Reaper's Kickstarter day.

Bowstrings were a first. I wondered how they would turn out.... Used brown sewing thread and used fishline knots at each end to secure the strings.

Hawker... you're right, bases are the wakest element in this. I am going to try some new techniques with stone floors the next time I paint more orcs, as suggested by Mamageek.

Oh, very nice! A good, clean set with strong, smooth colors. They would look great on any gaming table!

I would put brown under grass, it looks much more natural. If you want stone floor bases, have you considered Hirst Arts floor tiles?

http://www.hirstarts...moldsfloor.html

The molds cost a bit, but the regular floor tiles are 1" squares and you can cast as many as you like. I have used a few of the flagstone #260 tiles for this purpose. They are a little thick, is the only problem.

BTW I see you use GF9 Magnet bases. I found using the disk sander on my Dremel smoothed out the transition between the magnet and the plastic top. However Nice Job on these.

Does anybody else find it odd, by the way, that the information age has led to language becoming an oblique and imprecise tool where even the most straightforward phrasing is pored over with chicken entrails and bone tossing to divine the true meaning?

psyberwolf1: You nailed it. I have the round dremel tool as well I will use this technique on my next round of mass produced minis using the sanding cylinder.

Everyone: great tips. Thanks!

The disk sanders are a finer grit than the barrel/drum sanders. Also using the barrel sanders you run the risk of deforming the edge while the disk is flush with the edge and will provide a smother finish.

Testify!
"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
John Stuart Mill
English economist & philosopher (1806 - 1873)
