2013 Painting Goal: 36 Figures/ 9 Painted as of 05/21/2013
For other Wargame and miniature related stuff you can read my blog at http://tacticalrock.blogspot.com
Does anybody else find it odd, by the way, that the information age has led to language becoming an oblique and imprecise tool where even the most straightforward phrasing is pored over with chicken entrails and bone tossing to divine the true meaning?

And I might get some painting in. Maybe. Things get busy after I get back from the con. I have a paint-n-take in Sept to prep a billion figures for.

Ok I'll kick it off. It is a month of touch up and add ins and with 6th ed 40K I'm working on my first love: MAHREENS! No real goals as much as I'll see where this month takes me.
Also on my list too. I added a squad of tactical marines, another rhino, and a landspeeder. I also picked up a Necron Annihilation Barge too... :)
So my list:
1. Space Marine Tactical Squad. These are going to be in RAVEN GUARD colors.
2. Space Marine Rhino. See above.
3. Space Marine Land Speeder. Need to pick up some magnets for this...
4. Necron Annihilation Barge.
5, Necron Monolith. Not a bad looking kit (floating fortress style), but maybe one of the worst kits (buildingwise) in GW's portfolio. Parts fit of major components very sloppy. Taking care of the seams with gap-filling supergule, cured with acceleratior, and immediately wet-sanded (while the glue is still soft). One side done so far...
I'm also fixing to order up 2 more Annihilation Barges and a full (10) squad of Necron Deathmarks, so these might make it into the queue or not. I also have a vacation coming up, so it is doubtful I'll get anything done then...

My plan is:
archon
medusae (x2)
scourges (x6)
a ravager (party barge)
And about five warriors to finish out two units.
The retinue of the Archon will be made up of Reaper figures I just have to choose the right surrogates from my collection.

* A couple of Chronoscope "Men in Black." The figures themselves have basic painting; I just need to do touch-up work, highlights, etc. Last night, I did some detail work on their bases, which I'm decorating with some Apoxie Sculpt with a carpeting-style texture from an imprint. I'm really not sure how I'll use them (I only have 2 of them -- not really enough for a "Men in Black" campaign, per se) but I got them as part of a grab-bag deal and I thought they'd be fun to paint up. I used a tiny bit of putty to touch up the face of "Agent Jones," as he really, REALLY needs a chin; the miniature, as sculpted gives him way too round of a face and a sunken chin, which doesn't do much to make him look the least bit "Tommy-Lee"-ish.
* Several Reich of the Dead troops -- US Infantry ("GIs") and Kroids. I should have enough for 600 points or so on each side via RAGE rules. Again, basic paint job is done (I COULD field them and tell which is which), but I'm still doing touch-up work on faces and other details, and decorating the bases. I'd like for each of the US infantry models to be at least a little distinct from each other, even though there are several duplicates, so that these could serve double duty for some Savage Worlds "Weird War II" scenarios, to represent the PCs and their allies.
* My band of Deadlands (Savage Worlds) Undead Outlaws -- far enough along that I COULD go ahead and just call them finished, but I still want to clean them up a bit more before they're officially done. A tougher thing is that I want to distinguish them a little from each other; one of them I gave a lever-action rifle instead of his original pistol, but otherwise they're all in the same pose with only slightly different coloration for the hat/overcoat/clothes, and differently-decorated bases. I'm weighing the risk of taking a step back by doing some head-swaps or other detail work to add variety.
* Assorted Chronoscope minis for Victorian Sci-Fi/Fantasy settings: a bobby, a vampire hunter, an "Uncle Sam" repainted as a regular fellow with an awesome hat, some British colonial soldiers, etc.
* Assorted broken watches and other junk to break down for gears and parts for some custom 30mm and 25mm bases with a "clockworkpunk" look.
* An O-scale train (okay, so it's UNDER the worktable, not ON it right now) I picked up from Goodwill from the Christmas section (in July!) for $3, with engine, coal car, caboose, a flat-car (with a Santa sleigh I plan to remove), and a push-car (with some out-of-scale elves who likewise have to go), and several sections of track (though only a few are straight). I plan on sawing off the icicles and other Christmas-y fare, building up a few steampunk-y details, and giving everything a paint job, then using it for a Deadlands "great train robbery" scenario. I also have a cheaper plastic train I was given by the owner of my friendly local game store I might try to cannibalize a car from, but I'm not sure the scale really fits, it's not clear what time period it's supposed to represent, and the details are even scarcer. That might end up just being another project, so I can paint it up a bit and give it back to the store as tabletop terrain for Warmachine.
For the attacking bandits, I have several HeroClix "Vigilante" figures (a cowboy-looking type with a bandanna and a MOTORCYCLE) that I plan to use as bandits on "velocipedes" (once I "steampunk-ify" the motorbikes), and I might give the bandits an ornithopter or a gyrocopter as well. (I also have a couple of "steampunk horses" I could work in, but that might just be too silly.) A real challenge will be to convert the train so that I can have at least one passenger or cargo car with a removable top where I can place miniatures as defenders. I'd love to furnish the interiors, but the insides are pretty cramped, and I don't think I could do that and still be able to place minis at all realistically. I also have a couple of Gatling guns to incorporate somewhere, just because it wouldn't be complete without them. :D

I’ll start a new WIP about the conversion on which I’m actually working.
Then as I planned to do, I’d like to add some more bones to my Razig Army.

Priority Miniatures:
3 Castle Ravenloft heroes (WotC)
1 Sedition Wars Firebrand Female Terrorist (for their painting comp so she gets priority)
1 Castille Swordswoman
There are another couple of dozen miniatures on my workbench as well (including the Ravenloft Dracolich still) which I have made varying degrees of progress on as I have worked on the above miniatures.

I'm going to paint up at least half of what I got at Reapercon.
13 Zombies
1 Kroid conversion (the others will have to wait for phase 2 next month)
4 Chronoscope civilians
and 18 Chronoscope characters, some converted to carry guns
(and Thanks go out to Bob for the conversion idea with 50268 Bill Foster, Lumberjack, he's now proudly sporting an MG42)
the conversions, assembly, and priming were done right after the con so I just have to hit the paints
Now I just have to have time*
*just got a jury summons so not sure if I'll be interrupted"
Ok so Jury Duty was pretty short but life and a vastly changing schedule stopped all my painting dead in it's tracks. Thanks to the kickstarter and a now more stable schedule at work, I've finally gotten back to painting and just finished these guys today.
Starting on 6 Bones Male Human Warriors and a conversion project for next Reapercon.
