Basic Role Playing

Generic fantasy quest in mind using an old scenario from my collection. I am thinking of placing the action in Taltos for a frame of reference. If you are familiar with Call of Cthulhu then you will understand the dynamics of the game. I would plan on posting a minimum of once a week, more if interaction with players supports it.

Sacrificing minions: is there any problem it CAN'T solve?
- Lord Xykon, OotS #192
Beowulf ll. 1538-1543
... Pay no heed to proud thoughts, famous champion. Now the flowering of your strength is but for a while. After a while, the time will suddenly come that disease or the sword's edge will cut off your power. Either fire's grasp or flood's surge or blade's bite or spear's flight. Or vicious age, or the flash of your eyes will gutter and burn out! It will be all at once, great campaigner, that death will overpower you.
It's terrifying! Without enough caffeine your body undergoes these hours of partial paralysis and hallucinations! :shudder:

I just picked up some supplements for the Call of Cthulhu rpg at an auction the other day and just ordered the core players guide. Are you going to run it online?
Yes, I plan to run this segment online. I'll have to have some more active magic rules, maybe something from Elfquest but the character generation is the same just the skill/knowledge types will change a bit.

Do you have a link to the specific set of Basic Rules we'd be using. Is the $0.00 Quickstart Pdf of Basic Roleplaying Game what you meant on the Chaosium site? Is this sufficient for play?
Yup the Quickstart should be enough for what I am planning. It is what I will base character creation on but, if you have Elfquest, Call of Cthulhu (any version) Elric any of those carry the Basic Role Playing rules and a fantasy character for my game would just require a little tweaking.

Gwangi32, you might look at the Classic Fantasy supplement for BRP, it's got the old school D&D feel, fantasy magic, et. al.

I wouldn't mind joining in if there is still room.

The game is still open, I am waiting to see if there is enough interest to start a thread for the game. I'll look in to that supplement.

Is this going to be straight up fantasy, or were you going to include some occult elements to make use of the sanity points? If you're going to discard SP, it'd be nice to know before character generation.
