My second wraith complete. You probably didn't know, but I have gotten some MSP paints. Mainly the core colors. I also got white and blue citadel paints to see if I'd like them better or not. I did not. On this mini I did the stark contrast with the white, but the citadel white didn't go on very well. :( Anyway I hope you like. btw I know the stark white was a little much for a brown robe, but it kinda just happend. I originally was doing a grey base coat, but when I did the brown wash it was a little to thick and turned out like a glaze. :P Anyway thanks for reading. :)

Your shades aren't dark enough and your brights are too bright for not blending--build up to the white by mixing the base and white together in various stages to create a progression. The shade you're using is a good start but you should have one more level that's a much darker brown or purple (don't go completely black but you can mix some in). That being said you're getting the basics of the placement right.

Sorry you had trouble with the paint, but I'm really liking what you did here. Sure, it's a bit rough, but the color contrast realy gives me a sense this creature is moving about at night. The stark highlights put me in mind of glints of moonlight against the darkness of its robes. Very nice capture of mood!

Thanks. :) I will say this mini turned out a LOT different than I expected. Like I said I originally had done the base coat grey, and I planed on blending the white highlights with the base coat more smoothly, but after the washed ended up glazing it I just went with the flow. :P I probably will go back and try out the shading though. Thanks again. :)

Thank you. :) I know usually the stark contrasts don't look to well half of the time, but I really liked how this one turned out. Thanks. :)

Washes will stain paint just like a glaze but washes are much, much, stronger then an adverage glaze so if you water a wash down it will probably have the effect you want.

Also I forgot to mention how nice this photo turned out. Looks like you've got a good system going.

I agree, with most of the above, darker darks, will really make this one sing!
