Primed and ready to go. Painting this one for my sister in-law for our D&D game. She requested silver hair and dark blue on the cloak.

Back after vacation. I was hoping to get more work done on the miniature, but alas, that did not happen. Back to painting. Weapon and back cloak first coats done.

Front and back. Added green to the sword blade (green flame blade power) Added grey to the hair and then dry brushed silver. Added turquoise to the inner cloak. As well as adding leather to the sword handle, straps and sheath.

Have you considered doing a wash on the hair to give it some more definition? right now it's pretty much impossible to really see the strands with the metal you have and if you get some dark washes (blues maybe?) in and the do a light dry brush the metallic hair will really pop I think.

I don't think pure metallic hair will look right. You'll have difficulty making it look anything like actual hair, though using 'true metallic' techniques might help.

It is nice of you to paint a figure for your sister-in-law.

If I were to ask someone to paint a figure with silver hair, I would expect him to use some sort of grey with white highlight, though.
She might totally love shiny metallic silver you applied, however, it reminds me of a scene from the Game of Thrones..

Hair painted by professional painters for reference :

Keep up the good work. She will be happy to have your miniature. It's a special gift from her brother-in-law.

It looks to me like a heavy primer coat is obscuring the detail in the hair strands, which makes the silver look more cap-like than hair-like.

Actually Jen, I've painted this miniature...there are no hair strands. Dude has some smooth hair.

Yowza. Well, that'll sure make it a challenge.

I am still working on the mini. She got to use it last weekend. She has made a request to add a deeper purple to the front. I will post another WIP of the current figure when I get it back from her. Else it will stay in my WIP folder.
