Hi everyone,

I just purchased 2 minis (http://www.reapermin.../sku-down/14025 and http://www.reapermin.../sku-down/02743) to be my rogue but they're missing bits and pieces my character has - cloak for both, sword for one. I've not ever done any modifications to any of the minis I've bought in the past. I'm pretty sure I can fashion a rapier out of an extra bow I have but, looking at a tutorial I found for adding a cloak, it's fairly complicated. (It' requires sculpting green stuff.) Since this will be my first attempt, I'm not sure if I might be biting off more than I can handle by trying to add a cloak. Any suggestions on how I might add the missing pieces without pulling my hair out?
Thanks,
StormeSixx

Making a cloak out of green stuff shouldn't be complicated; if anything, it's one of the easier things you can make out of green stuff (other than just using green stuff to fill gaps or to push into press molds).

You mix the yellow and the blue together. You mold and smash the green stuff into a square or triangle or whatever you want the shape of your cloak "cloth" to be. Get out some other miniature that already HAS a cloak that you like, as a visual reference. You then introduce a few folds with some tools (a toothpick can go a long way if you're averse to getting more dedicated tools) and adhere it to the figure. Adjust it to hang roughly how you like, and make sure it blends in well with the neck area or wherever else it's supposed to attach. After it has had plenty of time to fully cure, if you wish, you can go back with some more, smaller bits of putty and try your hand at adding some creases, building up areas of folds, etc., for a little more detail.

Another possibility: Find a friend who plays Warhammer Fantasy, particularly one who fields Empire forces. See if he has an extra plastic cloak from Empire Militia or certain other forces that you can trade for. Some of those plastic sets have lots of extra "bitz" that will be left over after assembling the figures, unless he tries to glue absolutely EVERYTHING onto his figures. You might have to use a hobby knife to trim the edges of the cloak or use some putty to fill some gaps, but it'd probably be a much easier task.

A more expensive possibility: Check the Reaper Boneyard for cape/cloak pieces. It's not cheap, but you could potentially find a piece that you could modify a bit and fit into place. I just did a quick scan and found:

P60101B: Cape
$4.13
Posted Image P30008B: Head/Cloak $8.69
Posted Image P14334C: Cape $6.29

Posted Image P14266A: Cape $7.30

There might be more. I just did a search for "cloak." Looks like I might've done better searching for "cape" at this rate. I haven't tried any of the pieces in question, though, so I can't be sure how suitable they might or might not be for the particular task.

You can also get the warhammer bits from online resellers, either in their own store or on ebay.
If you have a game store near you, you could see if anyone there would sell you one. But I would check the online prices first.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I did talk to the owner of the gaming store we go to and he said he might have some odd bits leftover from other mods that I could have. He's not sure what all is available - he'll have to look first. Herzogbrian, thanks so much for your offer! I'll respond to your PM shortly. Thanks again, everyone!
Thanks,
