One of my players bought some garnet colored gem dice (dark red) and asked if I could ink the numbers for him. He picked up a white "paint pen" for me to use as well. The paint seems too watery and difficult to control flow-wise. Any suggestions and/or another method?

White paint, carefully applied with a fine brush.

Oof! It's a lot of dice, but I may have to go that route.

White craft paint. Incised lettering is actually pretty easy. Paint the whole thing then wipe off the surface. Takes a little practice but once you get the "feel" for it you should be able to get them done reasonably quickly.

If you want to go old school, you can use a white china marker. Just rub the china marker back and forth until the numbers are filled in and then wipe off the remainder with a paper towel/tissue.

I used to have a set of china markers in various colors to color in my old dice. Wow, that was a long time ago...

Isn't "old school" a white crayon?

Heh. I actually got a bag of dice once that came with a white crayon for rubbing in the numbers. :D Old school indeed!

I've gone with the "smear white acrylic paint into the recesses, then wipe it off" method, and it works reasonably well for me.

I use one of those white out pens:

Shake, squeeze and white in the letters. When dry just scratch off the excess around the edges of the numbers.

Take care,
