Nice mini to paint, quick and easy. Unfortunately mine had a terrible cast mistake on his face, I did my best to clean it up but the right eye is pretty much nonexistant. I considered resculpting the whole face but I just didn't want to spend that much time on it. Practiced my freehand with the tartan. Turned out ok I think. New metal recipe, don't think I'll keep it. Comments, critism and suggestions welcome.

Nicely done! I'm a fan of the subtle color palette. Very sepia tone, which is pretty cool.

I would like to see a brown wash of some sort to mute the tartan a bit, because right now it looks very very new--and very modern/synthetic dye new--while the rest of the mini is very weathered and natural. That aside, the tartan is amazing; I don't usually see sooo much plaid detail, mostly just two colors crosshatched over a basecoat. So it looks great, just a little out of place with the rest of the piece.

In the side-view photo, his right-hand cleaver looks pretty good, with lots of contrast between the flat and the edge. His other metal plates are pretty flat, though, so I see what you mean about the metallic recipe.

Index of my Show-Off minis. Current workbench: Complete the box set of RP Draconians; Finish NPCs/boss monsters for my currently on-hiatus Eberron campaign. Backburnered (but not shelved): finish Master Series Maria Roseblade; complete 35pt Legion of Everblight army.

I'm not a fan of the big rings on the blades. Maybe they are just too big.

All the awards for that tartan :)

I feel like Metalchaos about the rings.

Ya the rings were also an experiment, pain to paint. The cloak does look better with the brown wash, thanks Uber-Mensch

I think the cloak look awesome this way. Do you think you'll post more pictures with the brown wash done?

In regards to the tartan. It should have continued on the inside of the cloak. I like the metals on the blades. But the golds need more shadows and much more highlighting. The blue on the skin seems a bit overdone. Taking a closer look at it. It all needs deeper shadows and higher highlights. Seems very muted. But just my thoughts is all.

Nice work overall, although the tartan needs shading in the folds of the cloth. It is still cloth, even if it has a pattern on it. Next time paint the base coat and shade it before you paint the pattern on top. Then shade the pattern. It's a real pain. (Believe me, I know! My last project was Andrea Miniatures' Rob Roy, and I hated that mini before I loved it. I almost threw it out my kitchen window! Haha!) Still, it is well worth the time and effort if you want beautiful kilt work!

After this heat wave I'm going to take some of these suggestions and try them out. I'll update with pics. Thanks everyone.
