So I have been itching for a game since Fall out 3. I enjoyed the first Diablo but was rather disappointed with the second on because it was too simular to the first one. In any event I was wondering if there was anyone want to throw a light on this to see if it was worth it.

I am aware that there was some server issues but other then that any thoughts?

Hm I recommend getting an authenticator if you're going to play it. My boyfriend's mom is addicted to it, but has been hacked twice so far, not sure how or why that happened but she was miffed. Aside from that I think she likes it, as she plays it all the time now. I haven't tried it myself though so couldn't give too much insight on that front.
I'll fight it, but I won't kill it. Now, what about my dynamite?

There's been a backlash against it, due to the fact that you have to be online the whole time, and they were going to introduce a real-money auction house (taking a cut each time), and apparently the game is really easy until you complete the whole game and unlock higher difficulty levels. Didn't stop it from selling a huge amount though.

I thoroughly enjoyed D3. I have beat it on normal, and about half way through nightmare. Best game ever? Nope. But it was entertaining, and I feel like I have recouped the cost of the game in time spent playing. I don't really like having to have a bnet connection to play. I haven't really experienced any of the server problems with the exception of some lag at peak times. Classes are interesting (except the barbarian which I never liked in d2 either).

I've had fun with Diablo 3. It's good for a little semi-mindless fun. The game is quite pretty in a creepy sort of way, and the story is interesting enough (with the various subplots and little events).

I have gotten nabbed by server lag a few times and died, so I wouldn't recommend Hardcore mode.

I can say that it's a fun game until you reach Inferno mode at 60.

I got suckered into playing along with friends, and it was all fun until this point. I have a very nicely geared character that gets 1-2 shotted by anything, and I'm playing the tank role (tanking gear, life on hit weapons, tanking skills etc.). We've cleared up to Act IV inferno and it's just silly at this point. Oh and you can farm for 4-5 hours and sometimes not find anything worth selling on AH. It's way too RNG (random number generator) for me to want to continue playing. If I farm for 4-5 hours I want something to show for it besides bags of gear I vendor or salvage for crafting materials. Oh and people are smoking crack for what they want to sell items for on the real money auction house (granted it was just implemented in last few days). I'll spend 250$ on tactile miniatures and paints, but 250$ for an item for my video game character... no thanks!

Overall 8/10. Great game, just once you get to a point it becomes way too tedious. You'll never farm the gear you need so you have to buy it from Auction House.

I bought it on launch day and couldn't play that night due to the server issues. I've had 2 or 3 other times when I haven't been able to get on b/c the servers were either down for maintenance, or they pushed a patch out but the patch broke the servers.

All in all I'd give it a 5 out of 10. It looks pretty, it has an average story, some good voice acting, and at times can be very fun to play. Of course the reason its fun to play is b/c its really not hard at all and there's no challenge. You click; stuff dies; you click some more.

Honestly, its pretty much like a Facebook game. You know how they're not really games.. all you have to do is log in to click on some stuff every so often and there's no risk of your game ever ending.

So I have been itching for a game since Fall out 3.

I got Skyrim last week and haven't missed D3 one bit since then. If you loved FO3 you should love Skyrim. Same company, very similar engine, same open world.

I loathe the whole concept of farming. Having to continually play the same section of game, hoping that you randomly get something good enough that it will enable you to advance in the game...
No thank you.

Oh, but never mind. You can always pay real money in the auction house to buy a new weapon that will let you get a bit further.
Double no thank you.

Well I will say RMAH has made me some money.. I feel like it's paid for my time invested into game and thus I am probably quitting D3 soon.

I just checked my auctions and saw that I had sold all 4 of my RMAH items. Apparently some people are crazy enough to spend real money on items. I think once I liquidate all of my gear I've farmed up and such and sell gold from it I'll clear 1,000$. Yet that is about a month of my gaming/painting/etc time wasted on that game alone. Meh.

$1000... I wouldn't say that month was totally wasted then!

Not to derail this or anything, but I just read in Game Informer that Elder Scrolls is coming out with an mmo version. Playing Skyrim at the moment myself, so I'm mighty curious how the mmo idea would work with the game world. I love Skyrim although I giggle sometimes at all the ho ho ho loading screen sound effects.

From what Bethesda has said it's not an MMO but a single player game with online elements. They haven't gotten into full details yet but it looks like you'll have a main story line that single player and then you can team up with friends to dungeon crawl. Probably be months until we know what the online vs single player ratio truly is.

Just wanted to add for the Blizzard authenticator, you don't have to pay for one as there's a free app from Blizzard for all OSs (even blackberry) that does the same thing.

I can't really say that I'm thrilled to hear its a single player game w/some online stuff available if you want. It sounds exactly like D3's always-online DRM with totally sucks balls.
