I was reading another thread and one of the posts mentioned using a luck stone bump your dice roll to get cleave to kick in. Can you do that? The rules just say you can use it to add +1 to a die roll and I've alway took that to mean if you missed by one you could use the stone to bump your roll up.

If you need to roll 9 or higher to get the Cleave to activate, and you roll an 8, use the luck stone to bump your roll to a 9. Instant Cleave.

Target DV = 10.
Your Attack Roll = 12.
Valid hit, but if you want to Cleave for the extra damage, you need to beat the target DV by 3 or more.

Luck Stone = +1.
New Attack roll = 13.

Target Cloven.

Can't see a ton of times when I'd want to spend the luck stone to do this. But going for a kill shot or overcoming a model's DR would definitely be good examples.

... Pay no heed to proud thoughts, famous champion. Now the flowering of your strength is but for a while. After a while, the time will suddenly come that disease or the sword's edge will cut off your power. Either fire's grasp or flood's surge or blade's bite or spear's flight. Or vicious age, or the flash of your eyes will gutter and burn out! It will be all at once, great campaigner, that death will overpower you.

It's terrifying!  Without enough caffeine your body undergoes these hours of partial paralysis and hallucinations! :shudder:

I waste my luck tokens for silly things like getting a Cleave on some weenie model just for a story effect. I used to end games with a bunch of tokens left, so I decided to use 'em up rather than have them staring at me as I clean off the table.

Thanks for the clarification. I had never considered being able to do that so that will change things a bit.

One thing of note.... Luck stones are Unique to purchase. You may only purchase a single luck stone for any single army build. The only way to get more than one luck stone in a single list is thru Faction Doctrines. Both the Mercs and the Sisterhood currently have doctrines that give them more stones.

And Merc Luck Stones are fancier than normal Luck Stones. We rule that way. Don't be jealous.

My daughter runs the Sisters of the Blade. We use Skittles candies for her luck stones. She aquires a ton and sometimes uses them just because she wants one to eat. She also stomped all over my poor Reptus last time. Stupid chain lightning. :;):
