Here is an old model I painted back in early 2010. I am working on a repaint and it is currently being stripped. My idea is to paint the model as if she were a race car. In this paint job, I didn't like the hair treatment. And the checkered, techno-fiberglass in the legs isn't coming through as I would like. It is also too red, white, and blue for me. I will be keeping the general paint scheme (except the red top will go green), racing stripes, and orange number 7 (shout out to Danica Patrick 'cause I'm a fan). Back then my paint skills were lacking and that awful GW paint just glopped thickly everywhere. Hopefully I can do it some justice now.

Get that lime green out and start those engines. Questions and comments welcome.

OK. I've painted the base coat. I'm not happy with the gaiters. I used blue in keeping with the shorts but I think they will look better overall colored black as racing slicks... ;) I'm going to stick with the metallics for the metal bits... I think.

Questions/Comments?

Enjoy.

OK. More done. She is a race car! Getting there anyway...

I always do to the eyes and face first. That way if I mess up, it is quick to strip and start over. Then I worked from inside out. So her top and hair and cape and anything under her arms. The skin is next to finish. I added in mechanics gloves in red. The velcro straps are just paint, no sculpting, but the area is so small it is hard to get a good closeup shot. I still need to decide between metallic paint or NMM for the metal parts. The checkers have a couple of squares needing adjustment.

Questions and comments are welcome.

It’s a nice concept you‘re developing. I like the green hair!

I really like the sheen you have on the green hair. Very well executed.

Some tales are better left for the light of day.

Thanks. Glad you like it. I think it needs a bit more adjustment along the top part and back. But I'm pretty happy with it. Originally I had used peacock green in the hair but switched cause peacock was too blue. I'll post a new pic once I get a little further along.

The hair looks great! A big improvement over the original paint job.

There's a lot to like, but I especially like the green-highlighted hair, those checker patterns, and those hot pink gloves. :D
