Blatantly stealing Derek's topic format. :-p

I think I picked this one up at ReaperCon 2011 (or perhaps earlier), and based and primed it around that time. Then it sat on my desk untouched for many months until sometime this spring when I started on it again. I got close to finishing it, and then it sat again for another month or so. I've finally finished it, and will be shipping it down to Reaper soonish.

If you feel so inclined, here's the CMON link.

If you feel bored, more of my stuff could use some votes. (I'm not looking to bump up the scores, just that I have some that have been sitting at just below 50 votes for quite a while) http://www.coolminio....com/artist/pae

Crispy. Well, done indeed. Love the base work...

NMM looks sweet, not sure about the jade blue and green together, butt still very nice.

Great NMM, the axe blade and the copper looks particularly awesome.
The base also adds a very nice natural atmosphere to the ensemble.

I really like the Bluish Armor and Green Scale Mail. The whole thing is flat out fantastic though. Mercius is probably drooling right now if he has seen this yet, since he is a huge stumpy fan. Thanks for sharing Philip.

Ohh I love this especially the metal bronzing look with the green. Fantastic.

Great stuff! I love the color scheme, in particular the blues and greens, not normally colors I jump to when I think of dwarves but this came out wonderful! If you don't mind me asking, how did you create the ground terrain? It also looks great and convincing as earthy formations.
I'll fight it, but I won't kill it. Now, what about my dynamite?

For the base, I started with a block of wood, and trimmed away part of it to give an uneven foundation for the later layers. On the front side, I took some bits of a slate floor tile (from Home Depot or something like that) that I had broken up into various sizes, and glued these to the base. I started with larger pieces, and then added smaller and smaller bits. Toward the end, I was putting down glue and then sprinkling a fine mixture of slate bits and sand.

On the back side, I hadn't trimmed off as much, so I started by sculpting with milliput, and then added a bit of the fine mixture on top of that.

After I painted it, I added a few clumps of static grass, and small clump of field grass, and then some flocking (I think it's the WS fine turf). I also painted (dry brushed) the 'vegetation' so that it wasn't quite so green.

(The topic format works, doesn't it?) :;):
Outstanding! I like this blue ("turquoise brown" in Phil-palette terms) and green ("leaf brown"), with the actual browns (bronze/copper, leather, beard) helping them to play well together.
Nice stony base, too -- very convincing and cost-effective. (I probably would have tried to sculpt the whole thing out of green stuff....)

Thanks for the link to your Facebook page, too, and I look forward to seeing the Spitfire and some of those bigger Reaper figures.

Derek
