Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make a small tumbleweed for a base? I'm painting up one of the western minis and thought it would look cool. Thanks.

I think Reindeer moss lichen could do just right.

Don't know if there are any Michael's in your neck of the woods, but most similar crafty stores should have something like this: http://factorydirect...pine_broom.html
I get them unscented.
The individual "broomy" parts are thin and prickly-looking (though not really prickly). Soaked in water, they are easy to bend into balls and tangle up, and make great tumbleweed. They have a million other great uses for basing and dioramas, too, like dead brush, skinny winter trees, etc. Love this stuff.
