What is the best strategy to fight Earth Elemental.I didn't have much success so far but I'm still a beginner.

Without specific faction in mind what would be your strategy to get ride of them and their DR 2 . Think of it Ability wise. What kind of abilities and combo of thoses is better to fight them. Thanks

Well the best way is to keep my elementals back a bit until I get rid of your juicier models and then I release them! Soon after I just have to collect the skulls of your fallen elves to make drinking mug for my warrior...

Oh wait that is what happen the last time…

See you soon…

Most DR/2 models have a fairly low DV. MD might be low too. You hvae to hit them with everything all at once and overwhelm them. Try and kill the bugger early in the game while you still have enough troops to swarm it.

If you have balanced troops (melee, ranged, and/or magic) try plinking off the DR with ranged or magic first, then charge in and do real damage with melee.

A late game DR/2 model can't be stopped. I know, I own one. And I fight against one often enough. Without a full troop to engage a DR/2 model, even your big guys are going to be useless. I can't count the games where I still have all my troops alive, but not enough firepower in any single troop to take out the rampaging DR/2 monster. Castlebuilder has it right: hit them with everything all at once. Yes, you'll have to ignore the rest of his army. That's DR for you.

Warwick, under those circumstances do not forget to use the Regroup action.

In the end, when it comes to DR models... You have to over commit SWINGS or you have to use the multi attack type method to bring them down.

You can also use special abilities to help you. For example, it doesnt kill them, but if you can disable one, then at least you have knocked its abilities to hurt you down. If you stun them, you also take away their punch.

Sometimes the best way to deal with them is simply to tie them up and make them waste their time on your small fodder models.

In your case, with Darkreach, you have your own version of DR with Displacement, that can also nullify enemy attacks.

It's not impossible to beat DR late in the game, but it is definitely an uphill battle. There are a good number of models out there that are sub-100 points that have a high enough MAV (say, 6+, as this usually means hitting 60+% of the time vs. a model with DR) that have either enough attacks or SAs that increase damage to finish off a DR model in the late stages of the game. Excellent examples are Uru, Maugrathoth, Raseri, and the Onyx Golem. If you have at least worn the DR model down a bit, these guys can finish off the job most of the time.

People people people. Once again, the Dwarf has to step up and remind everyone of the obvious: you can't kill in the early game that which is not available to be killed. A true Dwarf player will not just walk the Earth Elemental across the field like a chump. NO! Instead, he'll have him burrowed, along with some Miner buddies, to trundle across the field and cause havoc later.

And a decent caster can bring him to the surface relatively easily. Just because he can Burrow does not mean he is untouchable. And while the OP was specifically about the Earth Elemental, the conversation has wandered to address combating DR/2 models in general.

Contrary to what you might think, it's not *always* about Dwarves, Bill. :;):

Oh, I wish I could use the Regroup action, Stub! My leaders are all still alive, so I can't Regroup. Otherwise, that's one way to do it. It's the curse of bringing tough leaders.
And forcing the model up from the ground is an annoying waste of a spell. I want mages to blacken the flesh of my enemies with fire and ice, rend flesh from bone, alter the terrain with walls of fire and stone, heal my big solo to prime health again. Waste a mage activation on surfacing the Earth Elemental? I hate it! No pizzazz. Would Merlin do that?
Plus, I always roll a 1. Never fails. Fizzle. Then the EE pops up on his turn and devours the mage. Truly, I suck at magic.

Dude, choking back a rant can burst a vessel. Let it flow.
My best, serious advice is to pay attention. If the enemy has a big old DR/2 model, make a plan! It can be done. It's not painless, but it can be done.

What if the enemy has TWO big old DR/2 models? I've been known to field two Earth Elemental for the price on Stone Spirit in the past.
