Hello all,

A short introduction:
I am from Israel. I work in making graphics for video games. I have a graduate degree in Fine Arts but most of what I know I had to study myself. I love miniatures, RPGs and war games.

I thought It'd be nice if I posted on these forums. Maybe get some good advice. maybe give some out. Here is a project I've been working on for two weeks now. I took many progress shots so you can check it out. He's nearly finished. Needs sandal straps and a mounting bar for a base. I'd like to make a mold and resin cast. I have some RTV silicone a friend gave me but not the resin. We'll see how it goes.

This is where I'm at now.

And a scale shot:

Here's a couple of earlier guys, the 35MM one is the first. I just thought 35 mm was the "regular" scale but it turns out it's 28mm or 1/72. I really want to try my hand at 15mm. That'll be sweet. I've got plans for a couple more of these "practice" type sculpts before that though.

Welcome to the forums! He looks pretty good so far. My only input is that his fingers are too big. Hands, feet and faces are very difficult, so this will come with practice.

I always cheer on the new sculptors, and love to see when they get sculpts cast by Reaper or for other companies. I remember cheering on Tre Manor years ago, and now he has his own line!!

This forum is very friendly and people will offer constructive criticism. You're obviously familiar with the RPG world and Reaper, so I don't have to tell you to look at all the releases they have for inspiration.

Keep practicing. It takes about fifty sculpts to get really going.

I look forward to seeing more from you, and Shalom!!

Thanks for the warm welcome!
Only fifty you say? I should start going by the time I'm ready to retire. :)

I know what you mean about the hands and feet I'll try harder with the next one.

I'm really blown away by what Reaper makes and look all the time at the greens gallery for inspiration.

I'll keep posting!

You should also join some other sculpting forums to get more feedback. www.minisculpt.co.uk is hopefully the correct link. If I remember others, I'll send you further down the sculpting dungeon!!

Added straps. Made the soles stick out a bit.

Time for another update. I realized I could use very fine sand paper to smooth some things out. I carved some details, sanded down some surfaces. A bit of the sandal's sole fell off as I was sanding so I remade that and attached a tab shape crudely to the bottom of the armature. An important lesson is that exposed and sort of flat surfaces can be sanded smooth but other than that it's gotta be done when the material is "wet".

Almost done with this one. Next up is finishing the tab. I'm going to test my silicone and try some of the casting materials I have to see if any of them work. Of course, then there's starting on the next one.

I COEN put my finger on it but did you get your inspiration from a certain film which I can't seem to BRIDGE the name from my memory?

If not, I'm sure going to paint him that way if the model gets sold.

Awesome work, dude.

That's just like, your opinion, man.

(thank you! I'll update if I manage to do a decent cast.)
