New Factions?

Will there be another one soon? I'd love to see a whack at Mercenaries utilizing the wide range of Black Legionaire figures and see the Reapers get their own faction of undead, especially one that focused on the 'fleshless' ones as there were several wrath overlords and ancient dead and other bits that would fit in well with them.

I mean, the only thing I can think of is LIVE pirates; certainly Reaper makes enough of those to assemble a faction. Beyond that... I can't think of anything else just off hand. Angry Birds, maybe? Either that, or start plugging in the superheroes, science fiction heroes, and cowboys from Chronoscope, but I personally would rather see those end up in a different game or series of games; I have heard it said that someone is working on a boxed set game featuring cowboys and a variation on the Warlord rules, and that's fine with me. Long as I get my Zombie Apocalypse skirmish game in there, too.

I would love to see the system adapted for other genres like sci-fi or steam punk to go with all the amazing minis out there.

I'm not trying to shoot you down, just understand better exactly what it is that you are looking for. With 19 different factions, nearly 60 doctrines, and over 625 individual datacards, it can be difficult to see the forest for the trees.

That being said, I would think the sahuagin/deep ones/fishguys got on the battle field the same way Razig's pirates do: they beached and walked ashore.

...and Shakandara nails it in two. I like barbarians. I don't much like yetis. Therefore I collect and play Icingstead with giants and barbarians, without yetis. Seems to me I could work it out into two separate factions, giants and barbarians, if I really wanted to.

Not a fan of Yetis either but I use Ogres or other large base models and my icingstead plays just fine.

Does anybody else find it odd, by the way, that the information age has led to language becoming an oblique and imprecise tool where even the most straightforward phrasing is pored over with chicken entrails and bone tossing to divine the true meaning?

That's where I struggle; a lack of water does not prevent Razig from coming ashore, even far ashore. But fishmen? Unless all of their battles are taking place on the beach, I can't help viewing them as, well, a fish out of water...

Granted, I don't see fish-men in the middle of a desert, but I do see them within marching distance of rivers. There are enough salt-water critters that can tolerate fresh-water that I can suspend disbelief based on the available terrain.
It's fairly likely that a battle will occur near a water source, so I'm very good with a fish-men army.
