Well this is the first mini I painted. It took me about 8-10 hrs and was completed this February. Sorry for the massive pictures, not sure how to make them smaller as of yet. I'm curious what you guys think about him. C&C welcome!IMG_2252.JPG IMG_2253.JPG IMG_2257.JPG IMG_2258.JPG IMG_2259.JPG IMG_2260.JPG

Great job. I think your brush control is terrific. Fantastic start, I wish my first minis were that good. You should try some freehand on your shield. I practiced on paper first, then tried to duplicate it on the mini. This is the best place to improve your skills. I've been getting some amazing pointers and you couldn't ask for a nicer, more helpful group of people. They've got talent coming out of their ears. :) Good luck with further minis!

Awesome first mini! I just officially finished my first last month but I haven't had the time to set up lighting to take pictures yet.

My biggest suggestion would be using a matte sealer of some type on the mini. He is very shiny :;):

I like your chain mail on him. The effect really works in the pictures. Very nice!

Great 1st paint job. You appear to have good control and use of color. I agree that I'd like to see you find a matte sealer. I use the spray on The Army Painter matte sealer-primer and it works great. The freehand is a great recommendation, and I'd also like to see you darken up your existing shades and apply those darker tones to areas that receive less light such as parts of the sword, the bottom of the studs on the armor, etc. you might also darken up the skin on his face below his cheek bones. We're glad to see your work and can't wait to see more!

Thanks for the great feedback everyone. The funny thing with this guy is that I originally finished him off with 2 coats of Liquitex Satin Sealer (purchased it only cause the display at Michael's made it look much flatter than it actually is.) then I found some hobby paint matte sealer and did 1 coat of that. I agree he's still shiny and I'm thinking that I'll probably go back and do the touchups that you mentioned at some point (especially yours Adrift you're a great painter and inspiration to me!) so I'll try doing another coat or 2 of the matte I have once I actually put the new details on him, besides what can a few extra layers of sealer hurt on a tabletop piece anyway haha!! Not sure what I'll do for a freehand on him, but perhaps you all could give me some suggestions. I'm looking forward to trying the freehand as I tried my first freehand on the model I'm currently painting (Lorna the Huntress).
