Just curious if anyone has setup a list of the Reaper minis you would need to play through the Black Fang Adventure that is included in the Beginner Box? I am not at home now, but if no one has done this, then I will tackle this tonight or tomorrow night. Don't want to waste the time if someone else has already done this. My search didn't produce any results.

Thanks Haldir, I'd appreciate any help you could offer. I know you are very familiar with the Reaper catalogue of minis so any input would be greatly appreciated.

Here is what I found for the initial adventure:

Heroes
60095 - Merisiel
60035 - Valeros
60015 - Kyra
60002 - Ezren

Goblins
60017 - goblin pyros
or
60006 - goblin warriors

Spiders
02784 - giant spider and victim
or
20027 - giant spider

No clue what a reef claw is. Google search made me hungry for crab so I gave that up.

Skeletons
06001 - skeletons (4)
or
06005 - (4)
or
06053 - skeleton swords (5)

you get the idea. Reaper has a TON of skellies you can use. I, personally have a ton of skellie parts from another mini company that I plan on using (unless they are not to scale against the Pathfinder and Reaper minis)

Black Fang (black dragon)
65141 - brood dragon
or
65138 - young swamp dragon
or
20029 - young dragon
or
60028 - Pathfinder Red Dragon

Hope someone finds this helpful.

I have Ezren, Merisiel, and Kyra on order. I am GM-ing for my two kids and we start this adventure tomorrow night. My wife is on the fence about playing. She LOVED Descent but is warry of the "rpg" tag. Kids have played a session of D&D Adventures but I am sick of the D&D rules changing (it is worse than GW and their editions). Paizo looks like a decent company and any company that contracts Reaper to make game minis is good in my book!

A Reefclaw is in Bestiary 2.
If a Dire Lobster and a Dire Moray Eel had a love child, you'd have a Reefclaw.

If you took the claws off Mastema and added them to the Frost Wyrm that would give to a fair idea of what it looks like.

yah that Reefclaw is one I'll probably just use the carboard pawn, unless I can find something that doesn't look too goofy, ha ha.

If anything you should give the Whiz-Kids pre-paints a look. While they don't have the detail like a Reaper mini gives you, they do look pretty good.

Yeah, I am NOT a fan of pre-painted minis. But they work in a pinch. Excited, kids and I are going to start our first adventure in about 10 minutes!

So how'd it go?
"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. Here is my session report I posted on BGG (actually RPGG). In a couple of words...it went AWESOMELY!

Recently picked up the Pathfinder beginner box as my son (10) and my daughter (14) both expressed an interest in RPGs after a few sessions of D&D Adventures at our not-so-local gaming store (about 40 minutes away).
Not wanting to drive each week, I thought about running my own campaign (haven't played in over 20 yrs, NEVER was a GM). I had heard of the beginner box on BGG and went to Paizo's website, watched the video and was hooked!
Last night was our first of what I hope are many, sessions. Both kids are using pregenerated characters. My son (being a Wizard101 fan) is playing as Ezren. My daughter is playing Mesiriel.

Ok, a wizard and a rogue, not the ideal adventuring party, but hey, it will make for some interesting encounters. So, upon starting the adventure, the wizard took an extreme interest in the statue outside of Black Fang's dungeon. Even going so far as hitting it with his quarter staff (I was really hoping for a nat 20 so his quarter staff would break). But eventually I got him back on track. They took care of the first two goblins without too much trouble. (My daughter was rolling 17+ consecutively!). They got the treasure chest opened in the first room with the rogue picking the lock. Took drinks of water from the fountain (nothing happened to the wizard, but the rogue took damage), neither PC knew why that happened. The wizard had some goblin poo on the end of his quarter staff (from poking around in the straw mats in the previous room) so he washed it off in the fountain causing the glow to go away.

Then...they went after the other goblins. Not wanting to discourage them from their decision making I let them go. Unfortunately the encounter didn't go so well. No one made their diplomacy rolls so the goblin king attacked, first knocking out the rogue, then the wizard. It was at this point where I stopped the session (it was close to bed time). Both kids wanted to know what was going to happen next and were very vocal about having to stop at this exact moment (it was awesome! they are so excited to get back into the story next week!)

Overall I'd say the session went better than I had hoped. I managed to keep both kids engaged in the adventure and even pulled a "to be continued...." approach. I have some ideas about how what I can do next week to keep the adventure going.
I did explain to both kids that when a character dies, that is it...game over for that character. If they can't afford to resurrect them, they have to create a new character.
I would say that from a GM stand point, Paizo did a FANTASTIC job of making the GM role much easier than I remember from my days of AD&D (20+ years ago).

My biggest challenge now is not spending $$$ on all the cool maps, and GM books. Once the kids finish this adventure I plan on running them through the Beginner Box bash sessions and from there I am not sure where to go.

Anyone have a suggestion as to which module or adventure path I should take them on next? I'd like to stay focused on the area around Sandpoint

I'd love to get my kids involved so I'm thinkin of running a test game down the road for them.

Glad your game went well.

Always look forward to RCon as that is my gaming time these days, at least sit down traditional rpg style. Local group died around 2000 or 2001.

I gamed with some friends in college in '91 for about a year. I remember we had an awesome DM! He even had some cool soundtrack CD's he would play in the back ground (Conan, Star Wars, etc). Then I had another group in '93 that lasted about 3 months. Then....nothing...till now. I hope to get another session in this weekend with the kids. Just picked up The Brinewall Legacy for the Jade Regent Adventure Path...reading through it, it seems a little complicated, so I think I'll run the kids through the Beginner Box Bash scenarios and then Hollow's Hope.

Got a delivery from Reaper last week containing, some PF goblins, Ezren, Kyra, and Mesiriel. My son is almost done painting Ezren. I made the mistake of trying grey primer instead of my usualy black. Not happy with the goblin results so far. Assembled and primed Mesiriel for my daughter who will get to it some time this week. Our weekly PF session is coming up on Wednesday, hope to have some of the minis done by then.

yah Jade Regent is a bit for new fans I think. Thou the first part is simple, it gets to be a bit complicated as it goes along. As you said Hollow's Hope, that is a good one to run. Do your kids like zombies? Try Hungry are the Dead. It's a 3.5 adv but obviously can be converted over to Pf rules.

I will keep Hungry are the Dead in mind......want to work through the free stuff first. Kind of have buyer's remorse in regards to the Jade Regent AP book I bought. Seems pretty daunting. I really like the ease of running the BB adventure.
