Yep! Captain Fairweather is one of the pirate captains, since we're going Pirate themed.
Like Bryan said, Angelica is "one" of the pirate captains. The other captains (or at least their crews) are mentioned on the Reaper Con page...pictures might be popping up any day now...

Though if it were popular enough, there's no reason they couldn't....

Still, Tim's done some terrific stuff in my estimation (I've actually used his Cowboys rules as an activity in teaching Texas history to seventh graders), and I have faith in him. Looking forward to it!

Ok, not to rain on your parade, but those won't be regular factions for Warlord. Tim (Castlebuilder) is up to his usual shenanigans of creating cool scenarios with custom factions. Don't get your hopes up of them appearing in a full-blown Warlord supplement.

It's not like Razig didn't get his start in a similar fashion

... Pay no heed to proud thoughts, famous champion. Now the flowering of your strength is but for a while. After a while, the time will suddenly come that disease or the sword's edge will cut off your power. Either fire's grasp or flood's surge or blade's bite or spear's flight. Or vicious age, or the flash of your eyes will gutter and burn out! It will be all at once, great campaigner, that death will overpower you.
It's terrifying! Without enough caffeine your body undergoes these hours of partial paralysis and hallucinations! :shudder:

So, lots of questions, but hopefully enough to get accross the true heart of the question: What does this mean for me and my dwarves, and should I try to paint some pirates up in time for the Con? (Or just give my dwarves swimming lessons...)

There will be a Warlord tournament. It will use the Warlord rules and factions, as written in the two Warlord books (Warlord 2nd Edition and Savage North). It will likely consist of 3 90-minute timed, scenario-based games. You will probably have the option to play it either Friday or Saturday. You bring your own army for this.
There will likely be a Dungeon Crawl in a dungeon that Castlebuilder (Tim) built several years back. It will use pre-generated teams with identical stats (regardless of what faction's miniatures you are using) and uses the Warlord rules as a basis for gameplay. The Crawl generally lasts an hour, and is continuously re-run through the course of the convention. Miniatures are provided for this event.
There will be a special scenario (the one that the linked posting is talking about) on a special table created by Castlebuilder. It will likely use rules that are based on Warlord, but expect differences. It will be pirate themed and will also use pregenerated teams, but these will be the special factions listed in the post (only the Razig faction exists in the game, and I'd not put it past Tim to changed Razig up as it suits his needs for this game). I'm sure it will run as often as time and an available GM permits. I'm also certain that miniatures will be provided for this event as well.
Since you only need a couple of slots of your time to play the Warlord tournament, that leaves you the rest of the con to check out the Dungeon Crawl and the special pirate scenario.
Oh, and pickup games too. I'm sure there will be those.
So the long and the short of it? Keep painting your drawves if you plan to play the Warlord Tournament (and/or pickup games). You'll need them. For everything else, you are covered.

Hey now! I will have you know that all of this Pirate theme stuff is coming directly from the crew down at Reaper HQ. What they have posted has to do with the RPG variants they are planning. That being said, me and the Mansfield Bears have quickly jumped on the bandwagon and are working on a Warlord version of the Sunken City theme. But this time around it is not my own "Shenanigans" that are responsible for it. I'm just along for the ride this time around (and loving it I might add!)Ok, not to rain on your parade, but those won't be regular factions for Warlord. Tim (Castlebuilder) is up to his usual shenanigans of creating cool scenarios with custom factions. Don't get your hopes up of them appearing in a full-blown Warlord supplement.
