First up is Reaper 03547 Juliette. The intent here is to make her a white mage (a la Final Fantasy), and I think I'm off to a good start. I'm thinking of making her a brunette to go against the white cloak.

Whitemage.jpg

Second is my D&D Chainmail Otyugh, primed, then base coated with blue/brown/green (all Vallejo dark dark colors). It looks grey-black in the photo to me, but it has a tone to it in real life

Otyugh1.jpg

Next are my pair of D&D chainmail Female Necromancers. Very fun minis, and I'm trying to mimic something I saw on CMON where it was in white. Still working on both of their faces, but can you tell which one was started first?

Necrofaces.jpg

Next is my Chainmail Human Glaiver, although I tried to mod him with some Greenstuff, I hope he comes out alright (his left arm is very much too large).

GlaiveCap.jpg

And lastly is my Privateer Press Khadoran Marauder (the old metal one). This is my color scheme for Khador, and I'm fairly happy with him, but he's not quite done (still have some highlighting for the metals and to do the front of the piston-arms).

Thoughts, ideas, and thrown pottery welcome. These are my first minis I'm posting. I'll have a couple more later tonight, specifically some that I did many years ago... that I'm still relatively happy about, but I'm thinking of touching up.

Work work... didn't get out until later so didn't have internet time last night (I work until 11:30 PM usually but was late). Anyhoo, here are more shots of the WIPS, as well as the earlier models I want to touch up and work on.

The first is the back view of Juliette... Didn't have time for any additional paint due to being late last night, but the back is started at least.
whitemageback.jpg

Next is the back side of my Marauder. His name is Hans. I have another that I'm working on that will be painted similarly, which will be named Franz.
Hansback.jpg

And now for the "old model that needs some work" a D&D chainmail Aasimar. This one was painted about 6 years ago, right as I was getting into minis. I love the look of her armor, but the rest of the model leaves a LOT to be desired.

AzzyFront.jpg AzzyBack.jpg

C&C, as well as suggestions for Azzy welcome. I'm thinking of stripping the Aasimar down and restarting. It's just that I've not gotten the paint color for her armor right since (I have a second Aasimar in Blue/white that will be added soon).

Been working, and painting, and here's the results. Unfortunately, due to no natural lighting, the pics are very washed out, but you can see the start of my freehand for the red triangles. Overall, I'm happy with them, they're hard to do (and I'm jealous of everyone who does marvelous freehand!). As always, C&C welcome, although the thread's been very quiet other than my rambling. And yes, I have to do some major touch-up work on her face, love when red gets where you don't want it. Going for Auburn to golden hair here. The pale pink-red is what I'm starting with (Model master Leather+Vallejo gory red). The triangles are base Vallejo Scorched Brown with a gory red first layer over, as is the odd cloak.

Worked on Juliette again tonight. Got rid of the red dot on her face, and did one simple step highlighting on her "triangles." Worked on the skin tone, overall, and I'm generally pleased with it. Should have photos up in the morning, when I get some natural lighting.

I think simply putting down flat coats of red, white and skin tone on Aasimar will do a lot for the figure. Get rid of the gloss and smooth out some of those shadows on the red robe and white sash and you will see a dramatic improvement.

Inarah, should I go with a much darker red, and try to build in more natural shading? This is the revers of my norm, which is to start waaaay dark, and get lighter as I can

Also, my photos don't seem to want to upload (I think it's Firefox acting funny, not anything special), I'll be fixing that soon.

I would start with something close to the shade you have now, and maybe put a darker red in the shadows and blend up to your current color.

For shading reds you it would be best to use dark blues/purples in the recesses. They are complimentary colors and will really make the reds pop as you highlight up from there. Don't use white to highlight it though. Use oranges and yellows with white being the last highlight as just points of light on the mini.

I don't know how thin your paints are, but use thin coats. (You may already know that. Sorry.) Try to get the whites smoother. They look a little chalky, but it could be the pics.

Been working extra... and making a wet palette, which I hope will help with Juliette. Will post pics soon, once rest is had and I get the chance to photo.

Also worked on the Otyugh, and another secret project that's going along swimmingly well :)

Worked more on Juliette. Camera has disappeared in the chaos of Thanksgiving weekend. Working on finding it. It's going to be a long week :/

Worked on the Otyugh and Juliette both. Going to get pics soon-ish. Added an optivisor to my toolbox of things. It has definitely helped with the details on Juliette.

The Otyugh is based and I'm happy with his color scheme. Just trying to bring the highlights up. Secret project (strip my Khador and repaint it) has started, and it's all stripped and I've started on it. That'll get another thread of its own here and at PP.

I think that's everything for the moment.

Okay... FINALLY got pictures together. Worse quality, working on the light source so night/day don't matter, but since I've promised and promised photos (no matter how horrible) here we go. I had to normalize the brightness in a photo editor, since it was WAAAY off, which seems to have cut all the highlighting work out of Juliette. The Otyugh looks about right, and the Gnome Gunslinger is off, in so much that his blue and red-striped pants aren't showing all that well. I will be working on that part quite heartily.

First up is our resident White Mage, Juliette:

Then our Otyugh makes an appearance
