October Roll Call

Most immediate:
I need to finish the armor for my 15mm WWII Germans (~50% complete)
about 8 more regiments of 15mm ACW that need paint
about 50 more 6mm modern Bradleys that need camo, then I need to detail it all (an entire division in platoon scale - ~ 100 tanks, 100 bradleys, all the artillery and support...)
Oh yeah, and the details on the 6mm infantry stands that go with them
An entire 15mm Napoleonic Prussian army (sitting at the primer stage)
I should be getting a platoon of 15mm modern (cold war) U.S. and a platoon of 15mm sci-fi in the mail any day now...
In the pipeline:
28mm WWII (U.S. platoon about 75% complete, German platoon about 5% complete)
15mm Roman army (40% complete)
Federation Commander starships - all factions (15% complete)
GZG starships - 5 factions (30% complete)
28mm Undead army (assembled)
28mm Dwarves army (on sprues)
20mm Moderns (primered)
I think I have a problem...

And this is ignoring the minis in the good intentions queue which has lain untouched since June.

The chain fighter is destined to be my first dip; I'm not happy with the skintone, and it's already filled in most of the little details on the hands and such...another coat is a no-go. Sucks, too...those are my best eyes to date.
The Dwarven crossbowman turned rifleman is the source of my woes at the moment, but that's due to seeing for the first time just how thin even from-the-pot paint is once you're not dealing with gray primer anymore. I need to get him done by the end of the month...if he's not done before the game he's being painted to commemorate is, I'll never hear the end of it.
On my docket is an assembled but unprimed Charon...with the way the northeast's gotten hammered this summer, it's been too humid every time I've had a chance to prime.
I may assemble my 4 CAVs tonight, partially to share the hobby with my younger brother and partially to have them for tomorrow's Battletech game; the boxes were open so I could see them assembled (with my fingers), but I tend to paint beforehand so I can better get to the details. Decisions, decisions. I believe they're Mantis, Sabretooth, Jaguar, and Nightshade.

In theory I'm supposed to be entering a 5-mini squad in a local painting contest next Saturday, but I doubt that's going to happen. Maybe next time. I've started basecoats, though, so I'll finish the minis.
That'll probably take me to the end of October, but it'd be nice to get some paint on my Menites eventually....

Some Dwarf Klockebowmen for fun, then onto redux on some YuJing for Infinity. Got the Zhanshi and Hsien primed and ready, then need to get a Domaru, Shang Ji, Hac Tao, and Celestial Guard assembled, primed, and... Well, I suspect the WMH campaign won't last long so we can get some games in for other systems.

I've got Shoatima for my wife, but that won't be a speed paint. I've also finally assembled a box of GW Dark Elves (16 figs) that I've had sitting around forever. My theory is to paint them up for TT and stick the set up on eBay. I plan on priming them later this AM. I also have a few sprues of WFB dwarfs that might get the same treatment, but I've not assembled those yet, so we shall see about them.
EDIT: I also got 24 ROTK Warriors of Minas Tirith assembled & primed, so I guess I should do something about them at some point too. I wonder if I should work on them or those CSMs that have been waiting on the shelf for a year and a half?

Mantis' legs was a really bad cast...I spent most of the assembly night trying to get the mold seep off it, cutting webbing out from between toes and etc. It's not perfect, but then again neither is my filing ability. Regardless, it felt good to get something, anything done.
Any advice on dipping a mini that's incomplete and has never seen a clear coat? Would I be able to soak it in plain water to preserve the primer, or should I scrub it bare and start completely over? I need to get those two WIPs done...

Finished a C8 dreadnought. Thinking finishing my GZG 15s are next as I'll be ordering the release version of Tomorrow's War next payday. Thankfully I have a simple scheme picked out for them.
Have you seen the new Mongoose renders for the Starline 2500? If the minis live up to the renders, I'm selling all my Starline 2300 stuff and "rebooting" my SFB collection!
Guess I should talk about painting projects: Just want to get done 5 more Dark Elf Cold One knights, and finish off my RAVEN GUARD space marines (getting 2 rhinos, a dread, and a 10-man assault squad here very shortly). Also a few Reapers for our new Pathfinder campaign.
Also primed a Battletech Crimson Hawk last night...just have to decide what colors to paint it in...

Finally got the first mod mostly done. Basecoated, an interesting accidental glazing experiment, and detailed. I may try to wash the skin, as the person it was gifted to remarked that Dwarf Flesh was remarkably pale, and may wash the hair/beard as well [got the color wrong].
The 'experiment' was an interesting mistake, and ended it creating a look of worn, stretched leather. In the process of changing my mind about colors, I daubed off what I could with a paper towel, which didn't get it all; by the time I got a new towel, the paint had dried so I said "screw it" and painted over top...which ended up being thin enough to work as a glaze for the first coat, leaving it with a bit of mottled color transitions.
Anyone that wants to recreate...I used Reaper's 'Elf Flesh' for the underlying color, and GW's Snakebite Leather for the sorta-kinda-not-really-a-glaze. It'll look best if daubed once and done, to the point where it's mottled between primer and underlying color but not artificially so [and hence looking like camouflage].
