OGRE ARMY

Galf Tradebasher, Ogre Bruiser -- 137

LORDS: 0% HEROES: 100% CORE: 0% SPECIAL: 0% RARE: 0%
TOTAL: 137 points (obviously I realize that this does not make an army... just wait :) )

INCREMENTS OF WAR:
NOW
Tradebasher Front.jpg

So, here is some background:

The Tradebasher Tribe was one of the first to come under the rule of the Overtyrant Greasus Goldtooth. It was a harsh winter when Overtyrant Goldtooth first began demanding payment from the Tradebashers and laid claim to there territory. Having a reputation for ferocity, the Tradebashers would have denied the demands of Goldtooth if not for two things. The first was that The Tradebasher tribe had been buried beneath a monstrous avalanche early that winter, killing nearly two thirds of the tribe. The second, the Tradebashers were starving and Greasus offered food in exchange for the Tradebashers relinquishing the territory that they claimed. Since joining the Goldtooth's, the Tradebashers have proven there worth many times over the Greasus, helping him to continually expand his domain. In addition to marching to war when called, the Tradebashers still occupy a portion of there original territory near the Giants Rocks, along the Ivory Road, as this makes a very convenient place to collect "taxes" on any who wish to enter the Goldtooth domain.

GALF TRADEBASHER
Galf Tradebasher ascended to the tyrancy of the Tradebasher tribe soon after his father was hit in the leg by a cannonball from an Imperial caravan. Though his father fought thru the battle, winning victory for the Tradebashers, his leg soon began to fester and a noticeable sickness began to set in. It was at this time that Galfs younger brother decided to challenge their father for tyrancy. As the duel began, Galf rushed into the arena, shoving his father aside (a feat that without the gangranous sickness would have been impossible) and proceeded to beat his brother for such insolence, until finally his brother stopped moving. Assuming that both of his offspring had thought to challenge him, Galf's father had regained his feet and was approaching from behind. Avoiding the reaching fingers of his father, Galf ducked low and his bloodlust set in. When all was said and done, however honourable he tried to be, Galf found himself feasting on the guts of both his father and his brother, claiming the tyrancy of the Tradebasher tribe for his own.

Okay, seriously. You need hobby ritalin. Focus, mousekiller, focus. How many armies do you have underway?

I've always liked Ogre Kingdoms, so I'm eager to see what you do with this.

Got the stripes on the pants done... anyone not happy with purple and white (khaki)?

Also, trimmed up that mold line a bit more.

I say go for brass or a light bronze on the stomach metal plate. Not sure if that's what's already there, can't see too well, but as always, I look forward to seeing your insanity I mean work.

Ok, the weekend leaves us still unfinished on the first ogre. I started on the guy plate, but I just am now sure if I like it. The two boxes are supposed to be an ogre glyph for traders, and the red mountain in the background is the ogre strength over the traders. Sounds good, but looks like rubbish in my opinion. Also, I used red for the tattoos (sort of like rubbed on blood), but I don't think it contrasts enough. And, I am not sure I like using the shapes that I am using, they look a bit like a pre-schooler drew them. So, take a look at the painted gut plate. Then look at the two shield patterns (disregard the mould lines and paint job on the model, he was painted long ago) that I may tack on to the shield and let me know which you like the best. Or, a better idea.

Right now I am thinking of using the Empire Maneater (the one with the big stone hammer)... any other suggestions?

Ok, some little progress with the ogres this week. I have decided to attach random articles to the gut plates, like individual trophies.

Here is the bellower:

Ogre_1.jpg

and here are the next two in the queue:
Ogre_2.jpg

And, an army shot thus far...

Thus far I am considering the GW Empire Maneater as my boss, but if anyone has any other suggestions, I am still open to them at this point...

Ok, so this is my final take on tattoo's before we either keep them, or get rid of them completely. Please chime in and weigh your opinion. I am going to try and finish him up by the end of tomorrow if possible, as I am packing a travel paint kit to take with me for the next few weeks (I will be on the road for a bit)...

Here are the next two command models that I am prepping for my road trip. I will be leaving tomorrow, but I am bringing a bunch of models with me to try and get finished over the next 5 or 6 weeks.

Not a huge update folks, but an update nonetheless. I have based and primered all 6 of the ogres, and did the skin on the unit boss.

Also, I am pretty sure that I am decided on using the tyrant model from GW as the hero, just because he looks tough as nails.

I think the caucasian skin color works much better on these than the typical grayish color. Nicely done.

Alright, I am guilty, skin is in this week. Did the skin on the ogre tyrant... I will likely go back in and do some blue and red shading in some places (eyes, lips... maybe a cut here and there)...

scotty: Never was a fan of that gray GW color...
