Personally, I like the fact that ECM and EST have been de-emphasized to a degree.

the fact that you cant just stick it on any model, I like. The fact that they made it where models tend to lean one way or the other and not both, i like.

But the amount of points spent on a model to get an ECM3 or even EST3 just to have the power of 1... well that is just a waste of points... kinda like the other's arguments about putting a CFP on a model that wont really be able to ever use it.

why would any model with a EDV of 1 have a ECM/3 on it?

It would serve as a deterrant for IA fire, even at 1. Granted the Opportunity Cost equasion is not generally in your favor though.
Good dice rolls beat good tactics every time.

Hell; I'll kill a man in a fair fight, or if I think he's going to start a fair fight, or if he bothers me, or if there's a woman, or if I'm getting paid: mostly only when I'm getting paid... But eating people alive, when does that get fun?!? Jayne Cobb - Firefly

Adon-Fire and Fury Warfare Doctrine.
For 60pts any Attack Cav can be used as a backup ECM/ESM vehicle. EDV1 is not bad when it can be doubled by the doctrine.

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of Circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of Chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

So you get +1 DV in a 6" radius, so what? That's still not that great.

Yeah - I'm not sure I am spending an action for that kind of bonus.

I do not know if data card quirks are still being asked for but I found that the Thug and Thug Infiltrator have one.

The OM Thug has smart on its Hb2 DFM. Meanwhile, the new Thug Infiltrator has a Hb2 without smart. Both weapons have an otherwise identical statline.

Could these get posted to Reapergames? There are still old cards up in the featured download section; these are a bit hard to find.

Once the RC08 cards become official they'll be posted at CAVHQ and I'll unpin and probably hide this thread. Until then they're pinned here as well as linked from the FAQ which is also pinned.

Not to be a butt or anything but we're 2/3rds through 2008. Maybe putting those cards on the site and calling them RC08 would be an idea. Then you have a little while to turn the current WIP cards into RC09...

Hey, there's still 3ish months left in 2008! ::D: And until the Mil-net guys are all drawing salaries from CAV, I'm not going to bug them too much.

oh I appreciate the hard work they're doing it's not that. I just figured that the cards they want us to be using should be the ones downloadable from Reapergames that's all.

That and not everyone gets on forums. Just put a disclaimer on them that they are not Official™ just yet but get them out there for the ones that don't pop in here. I really don't think we should penalize people for not hunting them down here.

And thanks for the pinning Sarge.

I know where yall are coming from, and normally I'd agree, but AFAIK the cards should be approved any day now. I don't want to pester Kit to post the beta cards at CAVHQ when he'll be posting the approved cards in the near future.
