hmmm, the Whatta-Chapter chapter of the Adeptus Astartes. Almost makes me want to go buy some just to aggravate people...

Will they be painted in the official Whattaburger color scheme?

Just throwing my own $0.02 in, I'm of the opinion that if you want to paint your own scheme, go for it. But call them something other than the 'real' ones.

Ex, if you're painting up some space marines in your homebrew colourscheme, don't call them Blood Angels for example. Other than that, I could care less.

I'd go with a white torso and then a blue right arm and a blue left leg, followed by an orange left arm and an orange right leg. Should give a nifty effect that will stun your opponent.

In the 40k world that's what successor chapters are for. In other games, there may not be a choice.

Sounds very Landsknecht-ish.

The Chapter motto could be ... "You want Fries with that?"

Or if they are Chaos Space Marines..."Fries for the Fry God!"

I remember he yelled at his son one day for painting his chaos space marines a different color from the book because you know chaos troops do everything by the book. I just find it a little odd that some folks can't accept varriation in Sci-Fi and Fantasy armies. How do you guys feel?

This Guy needs an ice suppository...

my chaos armies (WHFB and 40K) both get the random as all hell paint treatment...i think that's why they never sold on e-bay....

leave Codex colors for the Space Marines and Eldar...everyone lese can have fun...

...holding off my forum Divinity for as long as humanly possible...seriously.

I NOW HAVE THE LOST MOTO!!!! Bwahahahaaaaa!!!!

I'm kinda guilty of codex schemes.. I like the fluff behind the Dark Angels AND I like the green, so I am painting them dark green. A slight variation I did was cut out and glue two concentric circles behind the head of every soldier so they have halos like you see in the old renaissance Catholic paintings. And they all get trimmed in bronze... cause I like green and bronze together.

Now the Terminators.. I just can't get into white with green accents - it makes me think 'spearmint' So I haven't decided how I will paint them yet.

For my Warlord Dwarfs I chose to paint them in what ever looks natural with a green accent (again with the green! It's not even my favorite color...). To me Dwarfs just look right in earthy colors.

Sad thing is I don't even game... I just like to collect the models...

There's nothing wrong with codex colors. If you like the "official" colors then use them.

For some reason, every time I see something painted white with green (and even red, blue or yellow) accents, I can't help getting images of the Voltron crew... ::(:

Wow, now that brings back memories... ::):

Here recently I seen a Space Marine army painted up in green and white (either in White Dwarf or in the Apocalypse expansion)- made me think of toothpaste.

You should make a poll on this. I'm interested to know how much my paint jobs irritate people! I love to do both 'by the book' and original stuff. Original if I really care about what I'm doing and by the book if I just want to get it done. I find I spend half my time "painting" just trying to figure out what color to paint something sometimes. Having a picture of a finished product when you're looking at a primered model can really help get things moving.

Oh, and I also think that Space Marines should be painted in appropriate Chapter colors. Half the flavor of the world is about how regimented those guys are. And as mentioned, there are almost 10,000 undocumented Chapters to "choose" from if you want to do something original.
