Or :

The official Release date of Legendary Encounters, our new non-blind, non-collectible line of Pre-Painted Plastic Miniatures has been set - August the 6th, 2007. We're very excited to finally be able to show pictures of these fantastic new models! An entire New Gallery has been added with pictures of these minis larger-than life! And, yes, these are production pieces, not the prototypes. You can expect the miniature you buy to look like the ones in the photos!

Legendary Encounters - Because your Encounters should be Random, not your Miniatures!

Congratulations!

I'm glad to see that the minis have arrived and look pretty close to the prototypes. My FLGS will be excited.

Yep, those look every bit as good as what was on display at ReaperCon. I hope everybody is as excited as I am.

Maybe it's my monitor or faulty memory on my part. But I think these aren't washed as well as the ones at RCon. These pics look like they could use some washes to give them some more definition.

I'm not so sure I'd want to get hit by a missile with a "dog brain" AI.

I'm with Sarge. These don't look as detailed as the prototypes on display.

Bryan - any chance of a side-by-side shot to settle it once and for all? Prototypes and production?

they look pretty good.

there is a couple of spots on some of them (like the ogre) that the paint missed, but it is expected with prepainted plastic.

hope they do well + having to not spend 12-15 for something you can't see will be a "+" all around

Also Bryan, just curious how thick is the plastic around the thin parts like on the skelleys? DDm suffer from the thin plastic they use, always a downer to get a thin mini like that to only have it lay over as you set it down. Good example is the new gnoll whatever out of Night Below, he has thin ankles & the sculpt just won't stand straight.

For those of you who do a little painting, too, a quick coat of MinWax Polyshades (Antique Walnut Satin) + dullcoat will shade these miniatures wonderfully.

Are you guys nuts? Those look like complete butt.

3rd world children could have painted better (hell, look at WizKids stuff .. 100 times better .. and Mage Knight came out YEARS ago).

Have you actually ever looked at really good pre-painted plastics? No? Check out AT-43 then. Apparently it IS doable.

Look fine by me.

I just can remember what the packaging and pricing scheme was/is going to be.

Are they going to be in singles? 3 packs? 10 packs?

Guestimated retail? Based on size? Or flat price across the plastic board?

I have to say compard to every other PPM line out there, the picture presentation does look pretty unfortunate.

Next time I'd suggest using a single overhead light so the miniature casts its own shadows at the least, and use stronger diffusion for light so there are fewer reflections. This doesn't really make the miniatures any better, but they will at least *look* better. And the pictures could suffer to be smaller. The thumbnails are good enough, don't need the detail pics.

I expect things can only improve from here.

Packaging and price list are over here.

Bryan had the pictures shot and posted within about 25 minutes of their arrival. I was in chat when he announced it.

Considering they came in late in the afternoon (around 5:30 pm CST) and Bryan had them photographed and posted before he left work (which is typically 6 pm CST), I think the pictures aren't bad.

As for the paint, my biggest contention is with the Cave Troll's loin cloth. It needs to be a different color from his skin color, or something.

Case in point. Presentation is the biggest key when selling miniatures, especially painted ones. I imagine it would be worthwhile to spend a bit more than 25 minutes on the process?

Agreed. Ditto on the leathers and skin for the Minotaur.

**** Edit: Allright Bryan, kudos on the quickest edit-fu I've ever seen.

Tell ya'll what - I'll try to take some new pics as soon as I can.

Right now we're in a frenzy trying to get them out the door to stores and distributors.

Considering how much we have been clamoring for information and pictures of them, Bryan gave us what he thought we wanted: Instant Gratification.

He was also extremely excited; giddy as a schoolgirl, I'd say. When it comes to giving us all what we want and getting the product out so quickly once they have it in-house, I'm willing to cut some slack.

Still, I can't help but think the Cave Troll is an Urban Legend PPM.

They look decent, not any better or worse than I expected PPM's to look. Yeah, there's some detail lacking on the skellies and others, but overall I'm pleased.
