So, having a day off and nothing to do, I decided to jump into the big ol' project that is painting up my Lion's Lancers. Well, at least the start of them, anyway. So far I've got just 2 Lion's Lancers and Sir Danel. Jury's still out, but Danel will likely end up on either the Black or White one. Still haven't figured that out yet.

Anyway, the Cavalry's on it's way! Just thought you oughta know.

That, and I've always wanted to say that.

Speaking of a painting machine! Saddle up, Captain Crusader is on a role! Looking good dude.

Did you really spend five hours on Chrissy's face?

LOL! It was more like 4. Like I said, I spent some time doing some of her gold bits as well. That was inbetween layers drying on her face.

your a braver man then me when it comes to horses!! Not a horse painter person, then again most of my new warlord purchases have been the calvary units, uh oh, ha ha

love the last one, great use of the greys on the white. Also the blue really pulls the units together, great work, can't wait to see what you can do with the riders, ha ha

 Huh...I don't remember offhand, Jenna. But I'm pretty sure I still have the paint bottles still out on my desk at home (a vast majority of my Ivy Crown Light Lancers will be getting this same brown). I'll PM you the recipe later when I get home. Glad you like the brown! I'm kinda proud of it. ::):

Okee doke. Fair enough.

The recipe, Jenna (and everyone else who'd like to give it a whirl) is pretty simple: I basecoated with MSP (they're all MSP's, BTW) Oiled Leather . I then layered up by adding Tanned Leather in increasing amounts. I then started adding Linen White for final Highlights. At some point during this I managed to foul up the highlights something firece and ended up glazing everything back down with Oiled Leather again. And then repeated the highlighting until I got it to "look right" in my eyes. I don't recall using anything to go deeper with the shading than the basecoat. But it's entirely possible to do with any of the plethora of dark browns that are now in the MSP range (the new Walnut rules, BTW).

Anyway, give that a whirl and see where it takes ya! Remember folks, the Triads are nice and handy, but when you start mixing the triads, the possibilities get endless.

Yep, I'm an MSP junkie... ::D:
