Games
What is CAV?
CAV is the
exciting, fast-paced game of combined-arms 'mecha combat set in the
23rd century, where war is a constant and ever-present
struggle and you must fight to stake your claim. The game takes its
name from the 30-foot tall war machines that walk the battlefields of
the 23rd century, the Combat Assault
Vehicle. CAV's are man-made behemoths capable of
unleashing utter devastation in mere seconds and you are in
command!
CAV is a
complete game system that uses the Reaper Adventure Game Engine
(R.A.G.E.) for faster and more enjoyable play. Each
model in the game has a set of ratings that dictate how well it
performs in the game. These ratings are listed on a Data Card, an
easy to read record sheet about the size of a standard poker card and
freely downloadable here at reapermini.com. A key component of the
R.A.G.E. system
is the Damage Track. Each row of stats on the Data Card represents a
Damage Track which is the total points of damage that the model can
sustain before being destroyed and removed from play.
Spend less
time learning and more time playing!
The game's impressive
miniature line is done in N-Scale, allowing for the rich level of
detail gamers have come to expect from Reaper Miniatures. The
game does not get bogged down under a plethora of complex rules,
victory favors the player who employs tactical thinking with smart
play.
Are you good enough?
The CAV Universe
In the year 2176 Terran
spacefarers colonized the Vela (12) system. Unbeknownst to them, it was
a system controlled by the "shoot first, never ask" Rach and they
would not abide the settlers from Earth. They dispatched a mission to
shut down the colony and the ensuing action touched off a brutal
seven year war that would claim millions of lives. Earth now knew it
was not alone in the universe.
In the following years
the Terrans proved their great adaptability and found their way in
the new galactic landscape before them, making both allies and
enemies amongst the differing factions.
Adon
|

|
The Adonese refer to themselves as, and in many
ways have a rightful claim to the title, "Eldest" of the
Sapient Races. They were the first race to reach the stars and the
first race to colonize a star system light years away from their
own. The Adonese are considered the vanguard in all matters of
galactic high culture and have an open and inclusive society. This
allows them to pick and choose the best from any race or people
with which they come in contact. Their peaceful nature belies a
true warrior spirit, those who wish to face the Adonese have
learned at great cost that when the helpful Adonese hand makes a
fist, it strikes hard. They call the planet Avalorr home, sharing
it in a tenuous peace with the Ritterlich.

Malvernis
|

|
Malvernian life
centers around two things: the betterment of the Empire and the
worship of Khardullis. Malvernis is a capitalistic theocracy run
under the rule of the Khardullan Religion. The religion of
Khardullis teaches
solidarity and community strength as the path
to enlightenment and every citizen sees it as their holy duty to
spread the word of Khardullis, even by use of force.
|
Rach
|

|
The Rach descended from bipedal catlike beasts
of the Kor Mountains on their home planet, Mohr. Conflict is a
large part of Rach society and physical confrontation has always
been a mainstay of their lives, both with themselves and others.
The 42nd Kaharach (leader) decreed that no less than
ten percent of the Rach should be at war at all times, to keep
their warriors edge. Each year the best warriors from all over the
Empire come to test their mettle in the "Season of Storms" to
fulfill this decree.
|
Ritterlich
|

|
The Ritterlich are perhaps the most patriotic
of the known races, a full eighty percent of the Confederacy's
population has served at least a two year term in one of the armed
forces, even though service is required by nothing more strict
than society's approval. In Ritterlich culture, only one station
in life is held in higher regard than being among the ranks of the
Aristocracy, and that is being an officer in the military. With
rank comes entitlement. To attain this one must first survive the
ten years of harsh "war college", only then will those who are
good enough become a Ritterlich officer.

Templar
|

|
What makes the Templar Nation unique is that
all citizens are Knights of the Order. At the age of 14, all those
who wish to pursue citizenship and knighthood are assigned a
sponsor and given the rank of Squire. Should the Squire be deemed
worthy and willing, at age 18 he is given the title of Sir and is
considered a Knight 3rd Rank. For the Templars, it is their
religious duty to answer calls for help from oppressed worlds
across the galaxy. They also host the annual Warmaster tournament,
the premier showcase for fighting forces throughout the galaxy to
prove their prowess.
|
Terrans
|

|
After the attack in Vela, the Rach fought their
way to Earth in 2181. Upon entering the Earth star system, the
Rach immediately unleashed their fury on a planet that was ill
prepared to repel such an attack. The plasma bombardment of Earth
caused massive storms that killed millions but The
Terrans defended their home world with an equal fury and pushed
the Rach out of the system after eleven bloody days of fighting.
The horrors wrought on Earth
gave rise the current form of government, as the largest nations
banded together and reorganized into a 'Romanesque' form of
government. The United Terran Federal Forces also reorganized in
ancient Roman style and are divided into "Legions" and
"Fleets". The new capital of Earth is Rome and the military is
headquartered near the rebuilt city of Dallas, Texas.

Mercenaries
|

|
MercNet maintains the status quo and continues
to offer security contracts to the highest bidders among the
mercenary outfits in the galaxy. Some have been nationalized and
recalled to duty for their factions, others have simply folded due
to a lack of contracts. With the Second Galaxy War heating up
there is an even more pressing need for mercenaries to deal with
the growing pirate and scavenger threat worlds face throughout the
galaxy.
|
Pirates
|

|
The turmoil caused by the Second Galaxy War
hasn't been detrimental to everyone. The past few months have
seen increased reports of pirate and scavenger activity from the
fringes and into some of the core worlds. These pirate activities
are becoming increasingly aggressive, rumors abound that the
Black Rose pirates may be planning something big involving a major
shipyard in the near future.
|
UCORs
|
|
United Corporate
Organized Republics (UCORs) were the primary employers of the
mercenaries that waged war across a galaxy, attempting to
create a lasting peace from the ashes of the
First Galaxy War. UCORs acted as powerful quasi-national entities
and wielded the powers and rights of a galactic-based government.
Since that time the UCORs are becoming nationalized by their home
factions so they may keep a tighter leash on their activities.

The Reaper Adventure
Game Engine

Warlord is the first
game to use the Reaper Adventure Game Engine (R.A.G.E. for short). As
a master system, R.A.G.E. allows you to learn a few basic rules and
then take this knowledge with you from game setting to game setting.
One system for many games means that you spend less time learning and
relearning rules and more time playing and painting.
Key Features of
R.A.G.E.
Easy mechanics.
Roll one ten-sided dice. Add or subtract modifiers. Meet or exceed a
target number. All target numbers and modifiers fit on a one page
quick glance sheet or are printed on the figure's data card.
Fluid play.
A turn is divided into 2 actions per model. The order and what
actions are conducted are fully in your control. Each setting will
have one or two new actions specific to its genre, but the rest of
the actions remain the same from game to game.
Strategy and Tactics.
You are in control of not only the rolling of dice and
moving of figures, but also general force creation and preparing for
the surprises of combat against other players.
Data Cards.
All information relevant to a model's game related mechanics easily
fit on a standard poker card sized data card. As
models are damaged, their fighting ability will degrade until they
are removed from play.
Factions.
All R.A.G.E. games will feature various
colorful factions that you can choose to build your army from.
Each faction has special additional rules, called doctrines,
that are only available to that faction.
This gives each faction a distinct feel,
and makes each battle very different depending upon who is fighting.
